Karl von Amira zum Gedächtnis
Durch die unterschiedlichen Zeiten deutscher Geschichte hindurch sah man in Karl von Amira einen der prominentesten, aber auch originellsten Vertreter der Deutschen Rechtsgeschichte. Er hat in vielerlei Hinsicht sein Fach geprägt. Mit seiner Verteidigung der Autonomie historischer Forschung hat er methodologisch Wichtiges geleistet. Er schuf Begriff und Fach der Rechtsarchäologie und leistete Bedeutendes in der Nordistik, der Sachsenspiegelforschung sowie allgemein zur Erforschung des deutschen Rechts im Mittelalter. Nun, über 150 Jahre nach seiner Geburt, wird es vielleicht möglich, das große, aber auch etwas sperrige Werk von Amiras zu würdigen. Dazu soll diese Festschrift beitragen.
