Pandemic Poland
Poland has been in a phase of change since 2015. The constitutional system of the Third Republic is being restructured. The Judiciary, media, schools and universities are the main focus of attention. This restructure is being celebrated by the government as a renewal of the Polish state, but is being branded by the opposition as the destruction of the Polish Republic in favour of an illiberal democracy. In this already very difficult situation, Poland was confronted with the major challenges posed by a pandemic. What effects will the crisis have on the restructuring of the constitutional system? At present, it seems that the pandemic is acting as a catalyst for those changes. This book aims to provide an informed commentary on those developments and what they mean for the Third Polish Republic.
Anti-corruption Training Programmes in Central and Eastern Europe
The Octopus programme is a technical co-operation programme against corruption and organised crime initiated by the Council of Europe in 1996. This publication contains a number of papers which discuss training and education policies to strengthen efforts to combat corruption within public administration systems in central and eastern European countries, using case studies to consider experiences and best practice examples from the Czech Republic, Kosovo, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, the Russian Federation, Serbia and Ukraine.

Nanga Parbat - The Ultimate Chronicle
The story of Nanga Parbat is long and multifaceted. It was often personified as implacable and unapproachable. Attempts to climb it were made as early as the 19th century. Between the First and Second World Wars it was named the 'mountain of destiny for the Germans' and abused by National Socialist propaganda. The best mountaineers lost their lives in large numbers. In the 1950s, the decade of the first ascents of 8,000m peaks, "Nanga" also fell. Its first climber, the unforgettable Hermann Buhl, would have celebrated his 100th birthday in 2024. This story from a long-forgotten time up to the days of modern mountaineering is dedicated to him.

The two-volume set LNICST 150 and 151 constitutes the thoroughly refereed post-conference proceedings of the First International Internet of Things Summit, IoT360 2014, held in Rome, Italy, in October 2014.
