2023 National Gallery Artist in Residence: Céline Condorelli
Accompanies the exhibition at the National Gallery, London, 13 September 2023-7 January 2024. Céline Condorelli's practice addresses the boundaries between public and private, art and function, labour and leisure, in order to reimagine what culture can be and the role of artists within it. As the National Gallery's 2023 Artist in Residence, she was invited to respond to its collection and that of the Royal Albert Memorial Museum and Art Gallery, Exeter. Condorelli interrogates the role of museums as 'machines for looking' which guide audiences in how they perceive and value art. Using sculpture, architecture and installation, her art makes interventions in the ways people navigate space and highlights the act of exhibiting itself. This book presents a new body of work which focuses on the act of seeing, as well as pages created by Condorelli that document her research into the materials, spaces and history of the National Gallery. These are complemented by an essay by curator Priyesh Mistry and an interview with the artist by Lara Goodband.

Oil Paintings in Public Ownership in North Yorkshire
This catalog displays the great wealth of publicly owned oil paintings in the vast county of North Yorkshire. Over 2,700 paintings are reproduced in color from 41 collections. This includes all the oils from the municipal galleries in York, Harrogate and Scarborough together with 483 paintings from the National Railway Museum, almost all of which are in store. The catalogue also reveals for the first time the paintings from the Roebuck collection that was left to Skipton almost 20 years and has been hidden ever since. The Public Catalogue Foundation is a registered charity based in the National Gallery, London, that has been set up to record the nation's entire collection of oil paintings in public ownership and to make this accessible through a series of affordable catalogs. The catalogs are produced on a county-bycounty basis. Print is an exciting and dynamic design area, with new analogue and digital technologies opening up a wealth of creative possibilities for designers in textile and non-textile media. Witty, hyperreal and luxurious print designs are being used by fashion designers and in interiors, while fine artists are harnessing the latest technology in their work to stunning effect. This showcase of contemporary print designs from around the world is divided into three key areas: fashion, interiors and art. In fashion, the book features innovative print designs in haute couture, prêt-a-porter and accessories from companies such as Prada, Issey Miyake and Vivienne Westwood. The interiors section shows surfaces and interior products such as wallpaper, upholstered furniture, fabric hangings and floor coverings, and features a wide range of designers from Marimekko in Finland to Anna Glover in the UK. Fine-art prints and experimental work from international artists and designers such as Cristian Zuzunaga and Liberty Art Fabrics are represented in the final part.
