Este volumen recopila el conjunto de investigaciones que fueron presentadas en la Jornada de Trabajo «Del autor al lector: el comercio y distribución del libro medieval y moderno» celebrada el 5 de mayo de 2017, mejoradas y ampliadas por el debate y las aportaciones cruzadas que surgen con las apreciaciones y matizaciones de los asistentes y de los propios participantes. Cada autor, cada aportación aborda el tema, bien sea desde una visión global de conjunto, o bien profundizando en alguno de sus elementos, desde perspectivas diferentes, tanto por su campo científico de procedencia como por sus intereses específicos en él. Se ha pretendido, de esta manera cooperativa, obtener una perspectiva mucho más amplia que la que cada participante hubiera sido capaz de mostrar por sí mismo.
