The introduction (pp. 9-35), surveys the history of the Jews in Olpe, Westphalia, from the beginning of their settlement there in the 13th century, with a focus on the Holocaust period (pp. 20-35). Pp. 53-186 contain the interview (held in 1989) with Werner Jacob, born in Lenhausen in 1920, describing his experiences during the Holocaust. Jacob and his father were arrested after the "Kristallnacht" pogrom and imprisoned for several months; his brother was deported to Buchenwald and shot on 9 November 1939. His parents and sister were deported in April 1942 to Zamość and murdered there. Jacob was taken for forced labor near Lenhausen; in 1943 he was deported to Auschwitz and put to work in the Buna plant. In 1945 he was taken to Buchenwald, but escaped. He returned to Lenhausen, where he died on 9 November 1992.
