Available online: https://pub.norden.org/temanord2023-541/ The Nordic eHealth Research Network (NeRN) conducted a comprehensive survey study across Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden to gauge Nordic citizens' experiences, usage patterns, and attitudes regarding digital healthcare systems. Employing a cross-sectional design, the study aims to furnish policymakers and decision-makers with quantitative data that can inform evidence-based policies in the realm of digital healthcare. Consequently, the study's outcomes enable cross-country comparisons, facilitating targeted interventions and policies. Various stakeholders, including patient associations, professional bodies, interest groups, healthcare practitioners, and citizens, can leverage these research-driven insights.
Modern information and communication technologies make it easier for individuals to be involved in their own health and social care. They also facilitate contact between individuals and service providers and deliver more efficient tools for healthcare staff. Artificial Intelligence (AI) promises to bring even more benefits in the future, with more effectiveness and the provision of decision support. This book presents the proceedings of the 33rd Medical Informatics Europe Conference, MIE2023, held in Gothenburg, Sweden, from 22 to 25 May 2023. The theme of MIE2023 was ‘Caring is Sharing – Exploiting Value in Data for Health and Innovation’, stressing the increasing importance of sharin...
The COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated the pace at which innovative health technologies are being designed, developed, and implemented. This inevitably presents new risks and challenges, not least, how to ensure that these technologies are appropriate for particular environments. In this sense, ‘environments’ may be people in various roles (e.g. patients, users, designers, evaluators) or non-human constructs such as organizations, work practices, guidelines and protocols, buildings, and markets. This book presents papers from CSHI 2023, the latest in the series of biennial conferences on Context Sensitive Health Informatics, held in Sydney, Australia, on 5 and 6 July 2023. The theme of CS...
Artificial intelligence (AI) is once again in the news, with many major figures urging caution as developments in the technology accelerate. AI impacts all aspects of our lives, but perhaps the discipline of Biomedical Informatics is more affected than most, and is an area where the possible pitfalls of the technology might have particularly serious consequences. This book presents the papers delivered at ICIMTH 2023, the 21st International Conference on Informatics, Management, and Technology in Healthcare, held in Athens, Greece, from 1-3 July 2023. The ICIMTH conferences form a series of scientific events which offers a platform for scientists working in the field of biomedical and health...
Science-fiction author William Gibson is famously quoted as saying, “The future is already here – it's just not very evenly distributed.” During the Covid pandemic, telehealth and remote monitoring were elevated from interesting innovations to essential tools in many healthcare systems, but not all countries had the infrastructure necessary to pivot quickly, amply demonstrating the negative consequences of the digital divide. This book presents the proceedings of MedInfo 2023, the 19th World Congress on Medical and Health Informatics, held from 8 – 12 July 2023 in Sydney, Australia. This series of biennial conferences provides a platform for the discussion of applied approaches to da...
There has been exponential growth in use of the Internet to deliver therapeutic and supportive human services. Online interventions are known by a variety of names, including online practice, e-therapy and others. All refer to the delivery of services over the Internet through a variety of delivery systems including asynchronous email, video and chat communication, and closed-circuit video conferencing. They include services delivered by professionals such as psychiatrists, social workers, psychologists, counsellors and nurses as well as self-help groups with a therapeutic purpose and supportive services provided by trained volunteers. This book presents the most current research on online p...
