Acute Ischemic Stroke
This updated second edition of Acute Ischemic Stroke: Imaging and Intervention provides a comprehensive account of the state of the art in the diagnosis and treatment of acute ischemic stroke. The basic format of the first edition has been retained, with sections on fundamentals such as pathophysiology and causes, imaging techniques and interventions. However, each chapter has been revised to reflect the important recent progress in advanced neuroimaging and the use of interventional tools. Literarische Mehrsprachigkeit und ihre Didaktik
Wenn auch marginalisiert, stellt literarische Mehrsprachigkeit keineswegs ein randständiges Phänomen der Literatur dar. Vielmehr lässt sie sich in verschiedensten Epochen aufspüren und sie manifestiert sich in vielfältigen sprachlich-ästhetischen Formen. Dabei eröffnen Sprachmischungen, Hybridisierungen und Neuformierungen ästhetische Zwischenräume sowie erweiterte Möglichkeiten der Deutung und Interpretation. Im Fokus dieses Bandes stehen Ästhetiken, Entwicklungen, Formen und Funktionen literarischer Mehrsprachigkeit in Geschichte und Gegenwart, die auch hinsichtlich ihrer didaktischen Potenziale untersucht werden. Neben literaturwissenschaftlichen Perspektiven erörtern die Beiträge insbesondere literaturdidaktische Ansätze, die literarische Mehrsprachigkeit in poetischen Texten ins Zentrum stellen. Dabei werden verschiedene Formen des Inter-, Trans- oder Heterolingualen didaktisch reflektiert und/oder aus einer dominanzsprachkritischen Perspektive für den Literaturunterricht fruchtbar gemacht.

Wie kaum ein anderer Schriftsteller fühlte sich Paul Celan an das Deutsche gebunden. Doch wie selten ein Dichter vor ihm integrierte er eine Vielzahl anderer Sprachen in seine literarische Praxis. Die Bedeutung dieses Schreibens ,zwischen' den Sprachen lässt sich aus seiner Biographie, seinem Werk und seiner Poetik herleiten und anhand vieler Textbeispiele veranschaulichen. Auf verschiedenen Ebenen und in unterschiedlichen Formen sind ein Dutzend Sprachen in Phänomene des Sprachwechsels, der Sprachmischung und der Sprachreflexion involviert. In dieser Studie wird erstmals der Versuch unternommen, Paul Celans Mehrsprachigkeit differenziert in ihrer ganzen Breite und Tiefe darzustellen. Dabei wird sichtbar, dass die translinguale Schreibpraxis des Dichters den Kristallisationspunkt seines distanziert-kritischen, Verhältnisses zur deutschen Muttersprache darstellt. Als Trägersprache der Judenvernichtung wird das Deutsche seiner Lyrik multilingual ,anreichert', verfremdet und dekonstruiert, wodurch eine Poetik der ,Wortöffnungen' sichtbar wird.

Southwestern Desert Resources
The southwestern deserts stretch from southeastern California to west Texas and then south to central Mexico. The landscape of this region is known as basin and range topography featuring to “sky islands” of forest rising from the desert lowlands which creates a uniquely diverse ecology. The region is further complicated by an international border, where governments have caused difficulties for many animal populations. This book puts a spotlight on individual research projects which are specific examples of work being done in the area and when they are all brought together, to shed a general light of understanding the biological and cultural resources of this vast region so that those same resources can be managed as effectively and efficiently as possible.
