Fermentation is a theme widely useful for food, feed and biofuel production. Indeed each of these areas, food industry, animal nutrition and energy production, has considerable presence in the global market. Fermentation process also has relevant applications on medical and pharmaceutical areas, such as antibiotics production. The present book, Fermentation Processes, reflects that wide value of fermentation in related areas. It holds a total of 14 chapters over diverse areas of fermentation research.

The Art of Living Holistically - Balance and Purpose At the heart of existence, everything is interconnected. Body, mind, emotions, and spirit form a dynamic web of energy that shapes the way life is experienced. This work is a transformative guide for those seeking to live with greater purpose, health, and connection. It explores the art of aligning internal cycles with natural rhythms, nourishing the body with conscious choices, and expanding the mind through medita...
Two headers in the area do not always score a goal. Goals, triumphs and sports successes are the result of an undecipherable, multivariable and very complex equation. However, there is not even a positive balancing of all those variables that secures that the ball strikes the net. There is always a fair amount of luck. Since we are talking about a zero-sum game – one wins and the other necessarily loses – success or failure cannot be exclusively measured according to sports results. Who would not like to win on Sunday? However, to win every Sunday on the game field is desirable – perhaps necessary – but not enough. As it also is not enough having a surplus balance every year. We have created a model of indicators and analysis to measure and understand the management of the passing years, by connecting the management to the sports results and the social initiatives. Intentions without management are nothing but intentions, but management without results is nothing but management. In this book we have focused on the interpretation of three elements as an indivisible unit: Cups, Surplus and Social Commitment, an ideal formulation for a perfect equation.
This volume contains contributions on advances in geosynthetics engineering. Soil reinforcement is a very useful technique to construct several cost-effective soil structures in an environmentally friendly and sustainable manner. The most commonly used reinforcement materials are galvanised steel strips, geosynthetics in the form of woven geotextiles, geogrids and geocomposites, and fibres from natural and waste products. In recent years, there have been advances in the area of soil reinforcement, especially in the utilization of the technique in field projects. The researchers have also been working to understand the behaviour of reinforced soil considering the field challenges of reinforced soil structures. The volume is based on the best contributions to the 2nd GeoMEast International Congress and Exhibition on Sustainable Civil Infrastructures, Egypt 2018 – The official international congress of the Soil-Structure Interaction Group in Egypt (SSIGE).
Obesity and related co-morbidities are increasing worldwide and pose a serious health problem. Changes in lifestyle and diet would be the best remedies to fight obesity; however, many people will still rely on medical aid. Marine organisms have been prolific in the production of bioactive compounds for many diseases, e.g., cancer, and promise to be an excellent source for natural-derived molecules and novel nutraceuticals. Bioactive compounds with beneficial activities towards obesity have been described from diverse marine organism including marine algae, bacteria, sponges, fungi, crustaceans or fish. This Special Issue will highlight the progress in the following topics: Bioactive compounds for the treatment of obesity and obesity-related co-morbidities (diabetes, fatty liver, hyperlipidemia) from marine organisms; the isolation of novel compounds, the bioactivity screening of marine organisms and the elucidation of molecular mode of action of marine bioactive compounds.
