Wherever there is hockey there will always be a Rink Burger. Hockey isn't just about games in big stadiums. It can be played on ponds, streets and in small-town rinks. It creates bonds between fathers and sons. It forges friendships that last a lifetime. When the family home in Big River, Saskatchewan, is sold, Todd Devonshire decides to visit his roots one last time and retrieve all the hockey mementos he'd promised to pick up someday. Packing up pictures, old hockey jerseys and his vast collection of O-Pee-Chee hockey cards, Todd reminisces about his youth as a player and avid fan in a comical and poignant coming of age.
This book covers both the fundamental and applied aspects of advanced Na-ion batteries (NIB) which have proven to be a potential challenger to Li-ion batteries. Both the chemistry and design of positive and negative electrode materials are examined. In NIB, the electrolyte is also a crucial part of the batteries and the recent research, showing a possible alternative to classical electrolytes – with the development of ionic liquid-based electrolytes – is also explored. Cycling performance in NIB is also strongly associated with the quality of the electrode-electrolyte interface, where electrolyte degradation takes place; thus, Na-ion Batteries details the recent achievements in furthering knowledge of this interface. Finally, as the ultimate goal is commercialization of this new electrical storage technology, the last chapters are dedicated to the industrial point of view, given by two startup companies, who developed two different NIB chemistries for complementary applications and markets.
When the wind brings her a babushka just like the one Baba use to wear, Natalia discovers the Christmas traditions of her Ukrainian heritage--the greatest of which is the love of family.

Presents algorithms for using HMMs and explains the derivation of those algorithms for the dynamical systems community.
This book systematically describes the design and synthesis of MOF-related materials and the electrochemical energy storage-related research in the field of batteries. It starts with an introduction to the synthesis of MOF-based materials and various MOF derivatives, such as MOF-derived porous carbon and MOF-derived metal nanoparticles. This is followed by highlighting the interesting examples for electrochemical applications, illustrating recent advances in battery, supercapacitor, and water splitting. This book is interesting and useful to a wide readership in the various fields of chemical science, materials science, and engineering.
Chemistry, Manufacture and Applications of Natural Rubber, Second Edition presents the latest advances in the processing, properties and advanced applications of natural rubber (NR), drawing on state-of-the-art research in the field. Chapters cover manufacturing, processing and properties of natural rubber, describing biosynthesis, vulcanization for improved performance, strain-induced crystallization, self-reinforcement, rheology and mechanochemistry for processing, computer simulation of properties, scattering techniques and stabilizing agents. Applications covered include natural rubber, carbon allotropes, eco-friendly soft bio-composites using NR matrices and marine products, the use of ...
Chitin presents fundamental information on chitin. The enzymatic processes controlling the synthesis and the breakdown of chitin are discussed, along with its role in the fundamental mechanism of growth, differentiation, nutrition, and movement of a large number of species. This text consists of seven chapters and begins with an overview of chitin research and the rapidly increasing interest in chitin chemistry and applications. The discussion then moves to the enzymatic synthesis of chitin and chitosan and inhibition of chitin biosynthesis, along with the physicochemical characteristics of chitin and chitosan. The chapters that follow focus on chitin chemistry, chitinases and related enzyme...
The 56th volume of the "Journal of Nano Research" presents readers with the collection of peer-reviewed papers by the results of the research from the field of synthesis and the use of various nanomaterials and nanostructures. We hope that this volume of the journal will be useful and interesting for a wide range of engineers, scientists, and students whose activity is related with the creation and using of nanomaterials and nanotechnologies in different branches of human activity.
