Johnny’S Journey

Since John Johnny Johnsons early childhood, he was plagued by an inner force that was determined to be rebellious. Although he was loved and nurtured by his parents and loved by his siblings and other family members, he could not bring himself to be obedient, not even to his own conscience. His teen years began the era of alcohol indulgence and petty larceny. He decided that a life without rules was what he wanted, so he ran away from home. Soon his life became more complicated. He was arrested and sent to a reform school for boys. A life of crime resulted in several arrests and convictions. His family was still there for him. After being paroled from his last incarceration, his siblings helped him to start a business, which included counseling for teens and anyone else that was seeking help to better their lives. In the process of shaping his life as well as others, he met his wife, JaNae, and they started a family. What seemed like a doomed life had become a productive and prosperous one.

La 4e de couverture indique : "Can we consider prophetic conflicts as expressions of a socio-religious phenomenon or should we consider them as post-exilic creations that serve ideological purposes ? In his study, Francesco Arena investigates false prophecy and prophetic conflicts, taking Jeremiah, Ezekiel, and Micah as the three books in the Bible most concerned with prophesying falsehood and false prophets"

Covenant Continuity and Fidelity

Covenant Continuity and Fidelity

The core of Malachi's covenantal imagination is shaped by his reflection on an authoritative collection of source texts in the Hebrew Bible. The mention of people, nations and places, Deuteronomic terminology, and rare words and unique word/root combinations exclusive to Malachi and only a few other texts encourages the book to be read in the context of received biblical traditions and texts. The diversity of methodologies used previously to analyse Malachi has resulted in confusion about the significance of the inner-biblical connections in the book of Malachi, which Gibson clarifies. His reading frees the text of Malachi from being overburdened by too many “intertexts”, and allows its central message of covenant to arise with greater clarity and force. Gibson reveals how Malachi's connections to earlier source texts are neither random nor causal; rather, they have been strategically employed to inform and shape his central theme of covenant continuity and fidelity.

The Natchez Court Records, 1767-1805

In 1781, two years after Spain took the Natchez District from the British, the Spanish commandant commenced to record all matters involving the mainly British inhabitants that would normally come before a tribunal. Those records form the basis of the first part of this book--sureties, bills of sale for land and slaves, inventories, appraisals, wills, etc. The second part of the work, Land Claims, 1767-1805, deals with British land grants in the Natchez District and is based on abstracts of land titles submitted to the United States for confirmation of land ownership. The index to the whole bears reference to 10,000 persons.
