After Belonging
'After Belonging' examines the objects, spaces, and territories of our transforming condition of belonging. The global circulation of people, information, and goods has destabilised what we under- stand by residence, questioning spatial permanence, property, and identity - a crisis of belonging. Circulation brings greater accessibility to ever-new commodities and further geographies. But, simultaneously, circulation also promotes growing inequalities for large groups who are kept in precarious states of transit. The publication examines both our attachment to places and collectivities as well as our relation to the objects we produce, own, share, and exchange. It analyses the architectures entangled in these definitions through a selection of projects, texts, and case studies. This publication is the result of the work and research leading up to Oslo ArchitectureTriennale 2016. Drone
Drone brings together researchers from diverse disciplinary backgrounds whose work seeks to understand and represent the nature and extent of drone operations. The book investigates the relationship between drone technology, cultural production, and forms of surveillance and violence. It analyses and speculates upon how these technological developments affect life in cities. Drone is the the first volume of Unmanned. Architecture and Security Series, a research and publishing project which examines architecture’s role in the construction of the contemporary security regimes. The series discusses the consequences of the civilian appropriation of military technologies, and sets an agenda for design professionals to engage on a technological, cultural, and political level by putting forward forms of resistance.
Architecture of Appropriation
The squatting movement in the Netherlands has played a major role in the design of both the urban fabric and domestic interior, and continues to offer alternatives to the dominant, market-oriented housing policies. This book acknowledges squatting as an architectural practice, analysing six locations through drawings, interviews, and archival material to create a record of past and current struggles, spaces, and oral histories, thereby forming the basis for a new governmental acquisition policy. It brings together the expertise of the squatting movement with architects, archivists, scholars, and lawyers in order to discuss approaches to what are often criminalized spatial practices.
