Research into the field of religious leadership in relation to Christian identity is highly complex. What should be meant by religious leadership? What do we really mean if we talk about Christian identity? And most of all: what implies the and between religious leadership and Christian identity? Is there a necessary substantial relation between both? If so, how has leadership contributed in the past to Christian identity and how will it in the contemporary context stimulate a Christian identity?
Practical Theology and the Interpretation of Crossing Boundaries
In October 2002 the Tilburg Professor of Practical Theology, Tjeu van Knippenberg, retired. In order to honour him as a bright scholar in the field of fundamental practical theology and pastoral care, 23 of his colleagues at Tilburg University and elsewhere (Nijmegen and Leuven) contributed to this festschrift. Their attention is focused on the concept of boundaries in practical theology: between context and Christian tradition, church and society, personal identity and Christian narrative, individual and community. Different research projects out of the Tilburg tradition of practical theology are presented from an empirical-hermeneutical perspective.
Constructs of Meaning and Religious Transformation
One of the major trends in the psychology of religion is the growing interest in religious and spiritual meaning making in relation to religious and spiritual transformation processes, notably as the aftermath of traumatic experiences and in situations of crisis, stress or disease when personal well-being is at stake and coping activities and skills are enhanced. This volume covers this broad and complex area of interrelated issues. The contributions focus on religious and spiritual meaning making and transformation. They do not compose an integrated perspective on religious meaning making and transformation processes. Rather, this volume assembles and presents the current state of research on this complex of issues. The Spiritual Practices of South African Clergy
Clergy play an important role in the spiritual wellbeing of their congregation. They are entrusted by the Great Shepherd to shepherd his flock which entails leading them to green pastures and still waters, for example, pastoral care, and defending them from predatory animals, for example, heresy.
