Die Neugr ndung der Universitat zu Koln und ihrer rechtswissenschaftlichen Fakultat im Jahr 1919 ist eng mit Konrad Adenauer verbunden. In Nachbarschaft zur Bonner Universitat gelang es, eine zweite Hochschule in den preussischen Rheinlanden zu errichten. Man strebte u.a. mit einer Aufteilung zwischen Forschungsaufgaben (Instituten) und Unterrichtsaufgaben (Seminaren) einen neuen Hochschultyp an. Das Coming-out der Staaten
In den letzten zwei Jahrzehnten ist die LGBT-Bewegung (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender) in einer im Vergleich zu anderen Menschenrechtsbewegungen beispiellosen Geschwindigkeit gewachsen. Phillip M. Ayoub zeichnet die jüngere Geschichte dieser transnationalen Bewegung in Europa nach. Er zeigt, wie das »Coming-out« die marginalisierte Gesellschaftsgruppe ins Zentrum der politischen Debatte rückte und ihr zu längst fälligen Rechten verhalf. Neben der Analyse der von der Bewegung vertretenen Normen steht vor allem die Frage im Zentrum, warum die gesellschaftsrechtliche Anerkennung der LGBT-Minderheiten in den jeweiligen Staaten so unterschiedlich verläuft.

This volume surveys 150 law books of fundamental importance in the history of Western legal literature and culture. New Perspectives on European Women's Legal History
This book integrates women’s history and legal studies within the broader context of modern European history in the late nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Sixteen contributions from fourteen countries explore the ways in which the law contributes to the social construction of gender. They analyze questions of family law and international law and highlight the politics of gender in the legal professions in a variety of historical, social and national settings, including Eastern, Southern, Western, Northern and Central Europe. Focusing on different legal cultures, they show us the similarities and differences in the ways the law has shaped the contours of women and men’s lives in powerful ways. They also show how women have used legal knowledge to struggle for their equal rights on the national and transnational level. The chapters address the interconnectedness of the history of feminism, legislative reforms, and women’s citizenship, and build a foundation for a comparative vision of women’s legal history in modern Europe.
