A Genealogy of the Known Descendants of Robert Carter of Corotoman
John Carter (1613-1669) emigrated from England to Corotoman, Lancaster County, Virginia in 1635; he had five wives and six children. His son, Robert Carter (1663-1732), married (1) Judith Armistead and (2) widow Betty (Landon) Willis. Descendants lived in Virginia, Washington, D.C., Pennsylvania, Maryland, New York, New Jersey, Tennessee, Alabama and elsewhere.

James Morrison was a son of William Morrison and Janet Hall of Scotland and married Jennet Morrison in 1757 probably in Pennsylvania. He is buried in Concord, North Carolina. Although many of their descendants are found in North Carolina others are found around the United States especially in the South.

The Maxson Family
John Maxson (ca. 1638-1720), son of English immigrant Richard Maxson, was born in Rhode Island, and married Mary Mosher about 1665. Mary was a daughter of English immigrant Hugh Mosher. In 1661, John and others formed a company at Newport to purchase lands from the Indians which later became Westerly, Charlestown, and Hopkinton, Rhode Island. Descendants and relatives lived in New England, New York, New Jersey, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Missouri, Wisconsin, Iowa, Kansas, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Florida and elsewhere.
