Late Gothic Painting in the Crown of Aragon and the Hispanic Kingdoms
This book aims to analyze the genesis and evolution of late Gothic painting in the Crown of Aragon and the rest of the Hispanic kingdoms, examining this phenomenon in relation to the whole context of Europe in the second half of the fifteenth century. The authors consider the influence of the Flemish primitive movement on the art produced by their Spanish colleagues, the artistic relations and interchanges with the Netherlands and other countries, and the introduction and development of the Flemish language in the Spanish lands. The book also examines altarpieces, considering topics such as changes in shape and structure and liturgical links, along with offering stylistic analyses supported by new technologies. On Art and Painting
This book is a collection of fourteen essays on the Dialogues on Painting, published by the Florentine-born Spanish painter and art theorist Vicente Carducho (1568–1638) in 1633. This was the first treatise in Spanish on the art of painting, written as part of a campaign led by Carducho in collaboration with other prominent painters working in Madrid, to raise the status of the artist from artisan to liberal artist. The treatise provides an overview of the melding of Italian Renaissance art theory and Madrilenian practice in the baroque era. It also offers first-hand insight into collecting in Madrid during this crucial period in the rapid expansion of the capital city. The present collection of essays by art historians and hispanists from the UK, Spain, Germany and the US examines each of the dialogues in detail, furnishing an account of Carducho’s campaign to establish a painting academy and to professionalise the office of the painter; detailing the publication history of the treatise and the interrelationship between painting and poetry; and it cites Carducho’s own painting in relation to the Italian and Spanish traditions within which he operated.
Artistic Circulation between Early Modern Spain and Italy
This collection of essays by major scholars in the field explores how the rich intersections between Italy and Spain during the early modern period resulted in a confluence of cultural ideals. Various means of exchange and convergence are explored through two main catalysts: humans—their trips or resettlements—and objects—such as books, paintings, sculptures, and prints. The visual and textual evidence of the transmission of ideas, iconographies and styles are examined, such as triumphal ephemera, treatises on painting, the social status of the artist, collections and their display, church decoration, and funerary monuments, providing a more nuanced understanding of the exchanges of styles, forms and ideals across southern Europe.

Reflexiones históricas y artísticas entorno a las Germanías de Valencia
En el seno del V centenario de las Germanías valencianas (1519-1522), este libro reúne interesantes y actualizadas reflexiones, así como ambiciosos análisis. En primer lugar, se realiza una revisión crítica de la historiografía que ha abordado el tema histórico y se identifican las posibles líneas de investigación susceptibles de ahondar en la repercusión que tuvieron en el terreno artístico. Asimismo, se profundiza en las consecuencias humanas que generaron: el paso de mudéjares a moriscos y el peso que tuvo en esta imposición el recuerdo de san Vicente Ferrer. Finalmente, se abordan las consecuencias materiales: la incidencia que los acontecimientos descritos tuvieron en la transformación de las mezquitas en iglesias, así como en el devenir de los archivos y la documentación. En todas las contribuciones se aporta una revisión historiográfica amplia y fuentes diversas, y además se plantean certezas, pero también numerosos interrogantes que son invitaciones a nuevos estudios.
