ContentPLUS beinhaltet klinisch fundierte Materialien (u.a. Fragebogen, Achtsamkeitsmeditation), die diagnostik- und therapiebegleitend eingesetzt werden konnen.

Abstract: Background The EQ-5D and the SF-6D are examples of commonly used generic preference-based instruments for assessing health-related quality of life (HRQoL). However, their suitability for mental disorders has been repeatedly questioned. Objective To assess the responsiveness and convergent validity of the EQ-5D-3L and SF-6D in patients with depressive symptoms. Methods The data analyzed were from cardiac patients with depressive symptoms and were collected as part of the SPIRR-CAD (Stepwise Psychotherapy Intervention for Reducing Risk in Coronary Artery Disease) trial. The EQ-5D-3L and SF-6D were compared with the HADS (Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale) and PHQ-9 (Patient Healt...

Philosophy of Mind

The human mind is one of the most extraordinary mysteries of the contemporary sciences and philosophy. We know for sure that we have one, and that we have feelings and conscious experience. But why is that? This anthology addresses contemporary issues in the field of study that is the philosophy of mind. It is divided into five main parts: i) the concept of Self in the contemporary philosophy of mind; ii) sensory experience: odors, vision and colors; iii) Artificial Intelligence: the future, the ethics and the costs; iv) the relationship between neuroscience and philosophy; and, finally, v) the influences and history of the philosophy of mind. This book will be useful for specialists of the field, but also for others who are interested in some of the more updated sciences of the mind.

Accordingly, there is need for preclinical and clinical studies and comprehensive summary of major findings. This book is a state-of-the-art summary of these myriad severe life stressors. The chapters on the different pollutants focus on disease mechanisms (cardiovascular, neurological and metabolic disorders) and on oxidative stress and inflammation. The editors emphasize emerging mechanisms based on dysregulation of the circadian clock, the microbiome, epigenetic pathways, and cognitive function by environmental stressors, and introduce the exposome concept while highlighting existing research gaps. Key Features: Links various environmental stressors to the incidence of noncommunicable diseases Includes chapters on airborne toxins, chemical pollutants, noise, and ultraviolet radiation stressors Contributions from an international team of leading researchers Summarizes the impacts of stressors on disease mechanisms

Feeling Unreal

"The idea that reality is subjective, constructed from our own perceptions, is an ancient concept. "We are what we think. All that we are arises with our thoughts. With our thoughts, we make the world," said the Buddha. In the same vein, Anais Nin's observation above originated in the Hebrew Talmud"--

Abstract: Objective Type D personality, as with formal mental disorders, is linked to increased mortality in coronary heart disease (CHD). Our aim was to determine the prevalence of mental disorders among depressed CHD patients with and without Type D personality. Methods Depressive symptoms (HADS, HAM-D), Type D personality (DS-14) and mental disorders based on DSM-IV (SCID I and II) were assessed. Results were calculated by Kruskal-Wallis tests, Fisher's exact tests and logistic regression analyses. Results 570 CHD patients were included (age 59.2 ± 9.5 years; male 78.9%, HADS-D depression 10.4 ± 2.5; HAM-D 11.3 ± 6.6; Type D 60.1%). 84.8% of patients with Type D personality and 79.3% o...
