Urodynamics is the investigation of the function of the lower urinary tract – the bladder and urethra – using physical measurements, such as urine pressure and flow rate as well as clinical assessment (netdoctor). This book is a concise guide to urodynamics (UDS) for trainee urologists. Beginning with an introduction to the anatomy and physiology of the lower urinary tract, the next section discusses clinical assessment which begins with a medical history and examination – which may reveal abnormalities within the lower abdomen or pelvis that are contributing to the lower urinary tract symptoms. The patient is then given a urination (voiding) diary to be kept for three days, to document their fluid intake and output, including episodes of incontinence (netdoctor). Each of the following chapters examines a different UDS test and its interpretation. The final sections describe representative clinical cases, and reporting on urodynamics. Key points Concise guide to urodynamics (UDS) for trainee urologists Detailed coverage of clinical assessment and different UDS tests Includes chapter on representative clinical cases Features more than 75 images and illustrations
Urinary symptoms in women have a very high prevalence rate. While the storage function of the bladder is similar in both genders, voiding function has marked differences with obvious anatomic and physiological genitourinary distinctions. Despite all advances in contemporary diagnostics and imaging, female bladder outlet obstruction and urethral stricture disease remain a conundrum to be deciphered in clinical practice. It is also seen that the female voiding symptoms and bladder outlet obstruction are poorly understood entities; which is also evident from the fact that Urethral dilatation in women is still a widely practiced procedure. This book provides a comprehensive understanding of fema...
Minimally Invasive Therapy for Urinary Incontinence and Pelvic Organ Prolapse provides a detailed insight into “when, why, what and how” of various minimally invasive surgical procedures for surgical management of SUI, OAB & POP. The volume provides detailed diagrammatic and pictorial step-by-step descriptions of the techniques and management of complications related to these procedures. This book also presents an up to date, one-stop reference for anything pertaining to MIT of these pelvic disorders. Written by experts in the field, Minimally Invasive Therapy for Urinary Incontinence and Pelvic Organ Prolapse is a comprehensive resource designed for both the urologist and urogynecologist treating patients with urinary disorders and pelvic organ prolapsed, as well as for residents in training.
Edited by the father of endourology, Arthur Smith, Smith's Textbook of Endourology is the definitive reference book in the field, addressing every aspect of endourologic procedure including methods of access, operative techniques, complications, and postoperative care. The reader is taken on a step-by-step journey through percutaneous surgery, ureteroscopy, extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy, laparoscopy, and lower urinary tract procedures, and is given a comprehensive look at the influx of and dynamic changes in robotic and laparascopic procedures, and image-guided technologies. The principles and function of state-of-the-art endourologic instruments are outlined for each procedure. Now ...
