The Gleason Grading System
The Gleason system is the most important prognostic marker of prostate cancer that is critical to patient management and drives therapies across all disciplines dealing with prostate cancer. In addition to an extensive number of photographs, this book discusses in detail clinically related issues that are crucial for the urologist, radiotherapist, and oncologists to know, such as predicting upgrading and downgrading from needle biopsy to radical prostatectomy, risk of Gleason grading change over time, significance of tertiary grade patterns, and prognosis and implications related to various Gleason scores and different therapies. Images that were particularly difficult for contributing pathologists sent in for consultation are used in addition to classic examples, as these cases are the most informative in showing the difficulties with Gleason grading.
Hashtag Publics
This collection investigates the publics of the hashtag. Taking cues from critical public sphere theory, contributors are interested in publics that break beyond the mainstream - in other publics. They are interested in the kinds of publics that do politics in a way that is rough and emergent, flawed and messy, and ones in which new forms of collective power are being forged on the fly and in the shadow of loftier mainstream spheres. Hashtags are deictic, indexical - yet what they point to is themselves, their own dual role in ongoing discourse. Focusing on hashtags used for topics from Ferguson, Missouri, to Australian politics, from online quilting communities to labour protests, from feminist outrage to drag pop culture, this collection follows hashtag publics as they trend beyond Twitter into other spaces of social networking such as Facebook, Instagram, and Tumblr as well as other media spaces such as television, print, and graffiti.

Metadata such as the hashtag is an important dimension of social media communication. Despite its important role in practices such as curating, tagging, and searching content, there has been little research into how meanings are made with social metadata. This book considers how hashtags have expanded their reach from an information-locating resource to an interpersonal resource for coordinating social relationships and expressing solidarity, affinity, and affiliation. It adopts a social semiotic perspective to investigate the communicative functions of hashtags in relation to both language and images. This book is a follow up to Zappavigna's 2012 model of ambient affiliation, providing an extended analytical framework for exploring how affiliation occurs, bond by bond, in online discourse. It focuses in particular on the communing function of hashtags in metacommentary and ridicule, using recent Twitter discourse about US President Donald Trump as a case study. It is essential reading for researchers as well as undergraduates studying social media on any academic course.
