This book investigates the ways in which the social purposes of adult education are (re)interpreted over time, and between the global south and global north. It brings together thirty-seven authors from fourteen countries with extensive experience as academics and/or practitioners in the field. The book is inspired by the work and life of Lalage Bown, a leading proponent of post-colonial and inclusive visions of education for all. Over her long life she worked tirelessly to promote access to basic and higher education for people of all ages and backgrounds: with a deep commitment to striving for greater equality for women. Following an Introduction, the book is structured around four main themes: Adult Education and Social Justice; Decolonisation, Post-Colonialism and Indigenous Knowledge; From Literacy to Lifelong Learning; and, Fostering Excellence, Policy Development and Supporting Future Generation of Adult Educators. The book concludes with reflections on Lalage Bown’s Enduring Legacy.

Matthew Perry is known all over the world for his character, Chandler Bing. The TV show FRIENDS became a huge success, and the actors got all the fame and money they could ever imagine. Three years after FRIENDS, Matthew had a serious Jet Ski accident that turned him over. Vicodin(medicine)was prescribed to ease his pain and it eventually became an addiction. Matthew was not a party animal and he had serious alcoholism issues. After spending years in darkness and loneliness, Matthew finally seeks help from his parents. He visited rehab centers to control his addiction. After becoming sober, he even started a Sober living facility to help people with this issue. He wished to be remembered for helping others rather than being remembered for his character. He has won several awards. A few years went by, and Matthew lived his life sober. He is working on his Autobiography, which will be released in November 2022.

This book takes on current perspectives on children’s relationships to literacy, media, childhood, markets and transtionalism in converging global worlds. It introduces the idea of multi-sited imaginaries to explain how children’s media and literacy performances shape and are shaped by shared visions of communities that we collectively imagine, including play, media, gender, family, school, or cultural worlds. It draws upon elements of ethnographies of globalization, nexus analysis and performance theories to examine the convergences of such imaginaries across multiple sites: early childhood and elementary classrooms and communities in Puerto Rico and the Midwest United States. In this work we attempt to understand that the local moment of engagement within play, dramatic experiences, and literacies is not a given but is always emerging from and within the multiple localities children navigate and the histories, possibilities and challenges they bring to the creative moment.
