J'ai Perdu La Fin!!!

  • Categories: Art

This book presents an in-depth study of the highly original collaboration between two outstanding Polish artists of the post-war era: the legendary conceptual artist Edward Krasinski and the photographer Eustachy Kossakowski. Both artists were central protagonists of the Foksal Gallery in Warsaw, founded in 1966 as a sphere of groundbreaking experimentation in the Communist era. The creative interaction and exchange between Edward Krasinski and Eustachy Kossakowski spans from 1964 – 1970 when the latter immigrated to Paris. Krasinski developed in these years his seminal concept of the “Blue Line”, a strip of scotch tape extending horizontally in a given space. In 1964 Krasinski enacted...

Man-computer Interaction Research

Since MACINTER I appeared two years ago, research into human-computer interaction has been advancing at an undiminished rate all over the world. The papers in this book deal with the psychological aspects of human-computer interaction, and present the results of basic and applied psychological research. The basic research areas are cognitive issues in human-computer interaction, user's mental models, user's strategies, knowledge representation and elicitation, and learning and user training. The application of findings in psychology-based system design is also discussed. Emphasis is placed on both interdisciplinary cooperation (between psychology and computer science) as well as intradisciplinary cooperation (between different fields of psychology e.g. cognitive and industrial psychology). A general overview on the state of the art in quite different groups in East and West Europe and Japan is presented. Empirical data as well as theoretical and methodological approaches for the practical design of human-computer interaction are summarized in this book.

Never Let Them See You Cry

True stories of crime in Miami by the Pulitzer Prize–winning author of The Corpse Had a Familiar Face. Set against the neon backdrop of the South Florida city where Miami Herald reporter Edna Buchanan covered the police beat for nearly two decades, this memoir collects true tales of both heroes and villains—from the heartbreaking to the heartwarming to the outright hilarious. “A flurry of cases—of criminal Christmases, historic crimes, homicidal love, cop heroes, rescuers, odd occurrences (such as that of the barbiturate-soaked gunman who took 26 direct hits from cops’ guns and kept shooting until a 27th round took him down) . . . a generous bonanza for crime buffs, presented by one of the sharpest writers in the field.” —Kirkus Reviews

BIM for Structural Engineering and Architecture Building Information Modeling: Framework for Structural Design outlines one of the most promising new developments in architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC). Building information modeling (BIM) is an information management and analysis technology that is changing the role of computation in the architectural and engineering industries. The innovative process constructs a database assembling all of the objects needed to build a specific structure. Instead of using a computer to produce a series of drawings that together describe the building, BIM creates a single illustration representing the building as a whole. This book highlights t...
