Este libro proporciona a los docentes, educadores, investigadores y la comunidad académica en general un recurso recopilatorio de experiencias en el uso del portafolio por parte de profesores que lo han implementado en distintas universidades iberoamericanas pretendiendo demostrar, por una parte, su utilidad, y por otra, compartir y ayudar a otros colegas e instituciones que se inician en el uso de esta valiosa herramienta. Esta obra se estructura en dos partes: en la primera se comparten experiencias en la planificación y el uso del portafolio docente en tres contextos de educación superior, español, colombiano y mexicano, y en la segunda parte, con un carácter más práctico y aplicativo, se presenta una guía de actividades que pretende ser un recurso y una ayuda para profesores e investigadores que se inician en la metodología del portafolio docente. La guía es concebida como un instrumento de autoevaluación y reflexión que presenta el reto de esbozar una primera estructura de un portafolio docente propio.
Cómo lograr que durante su formación los estudiantes se apropien de su proceso de enseñanza y aprendizaje. La respuesta sería que los profesores deben prestar especial atención al diseño, desarrollo y evaluación de un curso, esto es, que los docentes estén en la capacidad de asumir la enseñanza con la responsabilidad y el rigor que esta requiere; sin embargo, esta tarea sería muy difícil de asumir sin las herramientas necesarias. Por ello, este libro presenta una de ellas: el aprendizaje experiencial, que busca construir experiencias significativas para los estudiantes y desde el cual, con el acompañamiento del profesor, se busca un aprendizaje integrado al contexto. Lo anterior hace a este texto versátil y ajustado a las exigencias que enfrentan las instituciones de educación superior en la tercera década del siglo XXI, cuando se exigen nuevas maneras de impartir las clases. Así, desde el campo de enseñanza de la administración, se espera contribuir con experiencias y casos de implementación a un debate que trasciende fronteras e idiomas, incluso tiempos y momentos.
Football, Nationality and the State examines the complex and ever-changing relationship between football (its development and structure), nationality and the state. Divided into two parts the book first deals with the existence of more than one football nation within the same political state. Using international comparisons the authors argue that these divisions may result from football's early history and development, regional movements for independence, or the growth of a language cleavage. The second part of the book goes on to examine the structure of football as an extension, or reflection, of the structure of the state. Resulting structures include the imposition of state socialism on sport, the presence of democratic politics in the organisation of football clubs and the links between big business and football.

Values are a hot topic in Europe, both in the public and political debate as well as in the social sciences. Is Europe a community of values? What are the cultural borders of the European Union? How united are Europeans with respect to their fundamental values? How does globalization affect European values? Do national values vanish? There is also a clear moral overtone in the debate: basic values are believed to erode, community values are waning, values become fragmented, and civic engagement is rapidly declining while hedonism and consumerism are prevailing.
