Almost a centennial. What is now the Stern School began in 1900 as training for people entering the New York financial markets, but like all good marketers, Gitlow anticipates the event. He provides an institutional history of the undergraduate school through the 1980s and the graduate school 1960-90, examines external evaluations and accreditation, student life, the alumni, and the school's outlook. This first Asia-Pacific edition of Reilly/Brown’s Investment Analysis and Portfolio Management builds on the authors’ strong reputations for combining solid theory with practical application and has been developed especially for courses across the Australia, New Zealand, and Asia-Pacific regions. The real-world illustrations and hands-on activities enhance an already rigourous, empirical approach to topics such as investment instruments, capital markets, behavioural finance, hedge funds, and international investment. The text also emphasises how investment practice and theory are influenced by globalisation.

This book is a cutting-edge exploration of the UK commercial banking industry, as reflected primarily in the experience of the four main clearing banks: Barclays, Lloyds, Midland and NatWest. What will the industry look like in the future? What strategies, cultures and organisational forms will distinguish the survivors from the non-survivors? Will the dominant form be the highly diversified, global, financial supermarket, the so-called universal bank, the more focused niche player, both, or some other type? To answer these questions, David Rogers draws upon very high level access to the leading players in this evolving industry.

Studies in Foreign Exchange Economics

This book collects my scholarly research on the behavior of foreign exchange rates conducted over the past twenty-five years. The collection includes papers that study the behavior of exchange rates from the traditional macroeconomic and newer microstructure perspectives. The former perspective considers the linkages between the macro economy and currency prices in an effort to understand the behavior of exchange rates over quarters, years and decades. By contrast, the microstructure perspective considers how the details of currency trading affect how macroeconomic information becomes embedded in currency prices, a process which drives exchange-rates over intraday horizons. The book also contains papers with a hybrid perspective that consider the details of currency trading and macroeconomic linkages in an effort to understand exchange-rate dynamics across all horizons.
