High school can be a difficult time for a teenager, especially toward the end where one has to start making the sudden transition into adulthood. For Jimmy Hawthorn it is even worse. Not only does he need to successfully make that transition, he has to do it while hiding the fact that he is the one responsible for kidnapping two fellow high school students, both of whom are hanging from their wrists in a secret underground fallout shelter he discovered behind an abandoned house on the outskirts of town.

Karol Radziszewski

Karol Radziszewski's montage of queer archival materials that formulate new ways of understanding history, memory, and legislation in Eastern Europe. In 1989, a great political change awaited Poland: with the fall of the Berlin wall and the flourishing of capitalism, the people behind the Iron Curtain would be set free. Karol Radziszewski was nine years old, living in Białystok, and, in a graph-paper notebook, he drew pages and pages of princesses in corrective eyewear, dogs with mermaid tails, and mysterious seductresses, whose exceptionally firm bosoms would be, sooner or later, bedecked in arrows shot into a heart or a flame. Karol knows that the secrets of these notebooks were off limit...

Innovation and Transition in Law: Experiences and Theoretical Settings

This book features a discussion on the modernisation of law and legal change, focusing on the key concepts of innovation" and "transition". These concepts both appear to be relevant and poorly defined in contemporary legal science. A critical reflection on the heuristic value of these categories seems appropriate, particularly considering their dyadic value. While innovation is increasingly appearing in the present day as being the category in which one looks at the modernisation of law, the concept of transition also seems to be the privileged place of occurrence for such dynamics. This group of Italian and Brazilian scholars contributing to this volume intends to investigate such problems through an interdisciplinary prism. It includes points of view both internal to legal studies - such as the history of law, theory of law, constitutional law, private law and commercial law - and external, such as political philosophy and history of justice and political institutions.

I Like My Neighbours

Soweto born Phokela, is a singular artist. Most famous for his reinterpretation of the work of Dutch Old Masters during the Dutch golden age, he is undeniably brilliant at what he does and has redefined the idea of the artist as social commentator. What is most striking, is the layers of narration Johannes Phokela expertly works into his paintings for the viewer to unpack like babushka dolls. He adds perspective to the Dutch Paintings by inserting the head of a black man into a cage of what was a boisterous family gathering in As the Old Ones Sing, so the Young Ones Pipe. He shows the cost to those who were exploited to fund the Golden Age of the colonialists over and over again.
