In "Switzerland's Untold War: The Truth Behind Nidwalden's Terror Days," Lukas Stofer delves into the tumultuous period of the Nidwalden crisis, challenging the conventional image of Switzerland as a tranquil, neutral country. This book uncovers the stark realities of internal strife, power struggles, and societal shifts during a pivotal moment in Swiss history. Stofer's vivid portrayal of the Nidwalden terror, set against the backdrop of Switzerland's struggle for sovereignty and identity, offers a provocative and eye-opening perspective on the nation's past. This compelling narrative invites readers to reassess their understanding of Swiss history, revealing the complex and often hidden dynamics that have shaped its course.

The Lake Of Lucerne

If Lucerne is the most widely advertised lake in the world—if its name, in recent years, has come to be associated, less with ancient gallant exploits of half-legendary William Tells than with cheap Polytechnic Tours and hordes of personally conducted trippers, it has luckily forfeited singularly little of its ancient charm and character, and remains, if you visit it at the right moment—or at any moment, if you are not too fastidious in your claims for solitude and æsthetic exclusiveness—possibly the most beautiful and unquestionably the most dramatic and striking of all the half-dozen or so greater lakes, Swiss or Italian, that cluster round the outskirts of the great central knot of...

Following Arnold Odermatt's Karambolage, On Duty and Off Duty, all published by Steidl, Let's call it a day presents more rediscovered masterpieces by this remarkable selftaught photographer, who trained himself primarily through his duties as a policeman in the small, secluded Swiss canton of Nidwalden. Odermatt thus developed an unconventional artistic fingerprint, which served him well during his working days as well as after hours. Whenever off duty, Odermatt often volunteered to take pictures throughout Nidwalden. He photographed his motifs usually only once, developed prints on demand and then archived them in his attic-all was preserved but ignored. Luckily, the photographer's son has rescued these treasures and ensured their publication. Let's call it a day is the fourth volume in a series of books that brings into focus this extraordinary work.

B Useless ;-)

They are grave looking while commuting to their work; they are well dressed, mostly in shades of gray; they multitask to master the hyperactive pace of today, and they are tuned for success, success that is measured by the bags of money made per day. The business people of this world take themselves and their hunting for the bacon very seriously, and wasting time, laughing at themselves and useless performances are taboo.
