Ambient Perspectives
In this, the second in a series of books on art and architecture published by the Lyon Housemuseum, Nikos Papastergiadis examines the subject of perspective. Based on his lecture 'Perspective: Painting, Installation, Architecture, Cosmos' presented at the Lyon Housemuseum in June 2011, Ambient Perspectives focuses on the transformation in the uses and meaning of perspective. It begins with the first impressions received on entering into a hybrid art and living space, and proceeds to reflect on the uses of perspective in the art collected by the Lyons, and its relationship to the architecture of the Housemuseum. This initial experience broadens into a wider engagement with the histories of perspective and its complex resurgence in the context of digital visualization and communicative technologies.
