Physical Exercise and Metabolic Health in Children and Adolescents
Overweight and obesity are two of the most serious health problems of the 21st century, due to the rapid increase in their prevalence and the serious consequences they entail for health. The prevalence of overweight and obesity in children and adolescents has increased considerably in the last three decades. The World Health Organization estimates that worldwide around 170 million children (under 18 years of age) are overweight. Obesity and overweight lead to a broad list of complications, starting with diabetes, arterial hypertension, and lipid disorders. In addition, overweight and obesity in children are related to significant reductions in quality of life. Physical exercise is considered part of the treatment for the prevention, control, and treatment of overweight and obesity, and derived comorbidities. For this, programs must be duly planned and evaluated.

En los últimos años se han desarrollado diferentes modelos pedagógicos en Educación Física y han sido investigado sus efectos. Encontramos principalmente cuatro modelos pedagógicos básicos: aprendizaje cooperativo, educación deportiva, modelo de enseñanza comprensiva del deporte, modelo de responsabilidad personal y social. Falls in Older Adults: Prevention and Risk Evaluation
Falls are a major health challenge and represent the leading cause of accidental death in older adults. It is essential to identify those factors associated with an increased risk for falls and to develop specific programs for fall prevention. The risk of falling can be assessed in older adults using different parameters, including biological, psychosocial, socioeconomic, behavioral, and environmental factors. For example, the risk of falls increases when vision is impaired, when sleep quality is poor, or when mood is depressed. Moreover, physical parameters, such as changes in body mass and blood pressure are risk factors for falls in older adults.
