La ciencia ficción pone en cuestionamiento la imagen de lo humano y de la sociedad. A través de espectacularizadas historias y deslumbrantes efectos especiales, los filmes logran desfamiliarizar la realidad y presentar con nuevas formas los conflictos y amenazas reales tales como la corrupción, las tiranías, los conflictos sociales, la crisis ambiental, las luchas raciales y de género. Los autores, a partir de distintos filmes identifican a través de sus discursos, imágenes y narrativas la forma en que se presentan los problemas sociales, el contexto en que emergen y el tipo de valores desplegados.

Am Beispiel Afghanistans und Kolumbiens illustriert die Autorin die Prämissen, aber auch die Grenzen einer öffentlichen Gütererbringung durch nicht-staatliche Akteure am Beispiel der Politikfelder Sicherheit, Rechtsstaatlichkeit und Wohlfahrtsstaatlichkeit und beleuchtet, welche hybriden Formen politischer Organisation sich daraus ergeben.

Winner of the Montserrat Ordóñez Prize 2018 This book provides an original and exciting analysis of Colombian women’s writing and its relationship to feminist history from the 1970s to the present. In a period in which questions surrounding women and gender are often sidelined in the academic arena, it argues that feminism has been an important and intrinsic part of contemporary Colombian history. Focusing on understudied literary and non-literary texts written by Colombian women, it traces the particularities of Colombian feminism, showing how it has been closely entwined with left-wing politics and the country’s history of violence. This book therefore rethinks the place of feminism in Latin American history and its relationship to feminisms elsewhere, challenging many of the predominant critical paradigms used to understand Latin American literature and culture.

Teresa Margolles, who for nearly two decades has been concerned to explore the artistic possibilities of human remains, focused his participation in the Venice Biennale 2009 in a shipment conceptual, emotional and material evidence of the violence of the streets of Mexico the decadent luxury of the art world. This book brings together multiple reflection (from the testimony, narrative, historical reflection and production) on a futile crusade against drugs and its pernicious effects. The main themes of the Symposium were biodiversity in enclosed and semi-enclosed seas and artificial habitats, and the restoration of degraded systems. These themes are highly relevant today. The papers dealing with the first theme represent current research and concerns about marine biodiversity in enclosed seas. The papers in the second theme represent a synthesis of up-to-date knowledge on artificial habitats.
