Irish national hero, a Celtic great and their most-capped player, Patrick 'Packie' Bonner is a goal keeping legend. He was Jock Stein's last signing for the club when he left his native Donegal for the city of Glasgow in 1978, where Packie evolved from being a shy, homesick teenager into a confident, world-class talent and first-choice goalkeeper. Billy McNeill handed him a debut on St Patrick's Day in 1979, and Packie went on to provide the last line of defense a record 641 times for the club. A seasoned Irish internationalist, Packie was a vital component in the most-celebrated Irish national squad ever, playing in a golden era under the tutelage of the inimitable Jack Charlton. The Women's Room

Feminist author Marilyn French's iconic and influential novel exploring the lives of women set in the rapidly changing world of the 1940s to the 1960s. “Mira was hiding in the ladies’ room. She called it that, even though someone had scratched out the word ladies’ in the sign on the door, and written women’s underneath…” So begins the famous feminist novel that follows the transformation of Mira Ward and her circle as the women’s movement begins to have an impact on their lives. The story follows Mira as she grows from a young girl in the 1940s to a woman of the 1960s. As she experiences marriage, motherhood, and friendship as a woman of the 1950s, she grows increasingly lonely...

Dreams of Fear

“A crisply written crime novel that methodically reveals the pieces of a complex puzzle, effectively challenging armchair sleuths” ― Kirkus Reviews A young mother’s death leads Bristol detective David Vogel to uncover a shocking series of family secrets stretching back 30 years. Jane Ferguson suffers from horrific nightmares which she claims not to be able to explain. When her traumatized six-year-old daughter finds Jane dead, hanging by the neck in the hallway of the family’s seaside home, it is assumed she took her own life. But routine police enquiries reveal evidence indicating that Jane has been murdered, and her businessman husband, Felix, commodore of the local yacht club, becomes the chief suspect. Called in to launch a major inquiry, Detective Inspector David Vogel discovers that nothing connected with Jane Ferguson’s death is as it seems. Gradually, he uncovers a deeply disturbing story involving a succession of shocking family secrets stretching back over three decades.

Tip of the Arrow

The purpose of my book, The Tip of the Arrow, A Study in Leadership, is to share with young people of today and tomorrow the story of young people like me at age sixteen as the blueprint of the Selma Student Nonviolent Civil Rights movement, a significant impacting factor in the passage of the 1964 Civil Rights Act and the dominating influence leading to the passage of the 1965 Voting Rights Act. On February 24, 2016, during a ceremony awarding the Congressional Gold Medal at the US Capitol in Washington, DC, I beamed with personal pride upon hearing Speaker Paul Ryan's statement that Congress decided to bestow the award to the foot soldiers because their contribution to our country was so great that they deserved the highest honor in our possession, the Congressional Gold Medal. The Tip of the Arrow is our story.
