"Abstract: The genus Gasteruption (Gasteruptiidae) is represented in Europe by more than 30 species. Of these, twenty-one are recorded from the Czech Republic and Slovakia, with six being new records for the Czech Republic and eight for Slovakia. Three species are recorded as new for Bohemia (western part of the Czech Republic). Gasteruption goberti is excluded from the fauna of the Czech Republic because specimens previously identified as G. goberti belong to G. caucasicum. Four species (G. assectator, G. caucasicum, G. jaculator and G. nigritarse) are common and widespread in both countries, G. tournieri is very common but prefers warmer regions. A medical novel of the near future. When Jeremiah Murray, M.D., general practitioner, abruptly walks out of his office leaving Patricia Gannon on an examining table and an office full of patients-in-waiting he marked a turning point both in his life and in the world of American medicine. In this stunning and powerful novel, J. Lewis Osler explores the malaise permeating the world of present day medicine and government, a malaise that will eventually erupt into anarchy. The story is told through a cast of powerfully drawn characters: the ever-idealist Jeremiah; John Masterson, the gregarious, persistent, desperate (and finally dead) spokesman for the beleaguered doctors; Dana Morris, the exam...

This volume offers extensive information on insect life in dying and dead wood. Written and reviewed by leading experts from around the world, the twenty-five chapters included here provide the most global coverage possible and specifically address less-studied taxa and topics. An overarching goal of this work is to unite literature that has become fragmented along taxonomic and geographic lines. A particular effort was made to recognize the dominant roles that social insects (e.g., termites, ants and passalid beetles) play in saproxylic assemblages in many parts of the world without overlooking the non-social members of these communities. The book is divided into four parts: · Part I “Di...
