The relationship of debitores and fundatores is key to understanding the “mentality” of the era of the formation of Imperium Christianum. The donations made “pro remedio animae nostre et genitoris nostris” indicate the memorial function of transferring the prayer duties of the power elites (or whole groups and communities) to the clergy and illustrate the belief of medieval people in the importance of intercessory prayer. This volume is a memoir of the Piasts and Boleslaw the Brave on the 1000th anniversary of his coronation. It symbolically closes the study of the millennium of the baptism of Poland (966–1966) and opens the study of the early Middle Ages in Poland and Central Europe.

Following the Treaty of Versailles, European nation-states were faced with the challenge of instilling national loyalty in their new borderlands, in which fellow citizens often differed dramatically from one another along religious, linguistic, cultural, or ethnic lines. Peripheries at the Centre compares the experiences of schooling in Upper Silesia in Poland and Eupen, Sankt Vith, and Malmedy in Belgium — border regions detached from the German Empire after the First World War. It demonstrates how newly configured countries envisioned borderland schools and language learning as tools for realizing the imagined peaceful Europe that underscored the political geography of the interwar period.

In addition, the directory will provide company contact details with a brief list of fluorescence-related products. The directory will be edited by Chris D. Geddes and Joseph R. Lakowicz, editor and founding editor of the Journal of Fluorescence.
The Who's Who in Fluorescence 2003 volume was published in November 2002. It featured some 312 personal entries from fluorescence workers all over the world. Initially we were unsure how useful the volume would be. However, it wasn't very long before we were inundated with requests for both bulk and personal orders. In addition a significant number of copies were freely distributed at conference venues, such as at the Biophysical Society meeting in San Antonio. Texas, March 2003, and at the Methods and Applications of Fluorescence Spectroscopy conference (MAFS) in Prague, Czech Republic, August 2003, where these two venues probably host the largest gathering of Fluorescence workers anywhere....

This book looks at the UEFA European Championship (Euro 2012) as both a crowning achievement of, and a way to sustain, the urban entrepreneurial strategy of Poznań, Poland. As the host city of the tournament almost 25 years after Poland’s transformation from a centrally planned to a market economy in 1989, the author focuses on how the local myths and traditions of resourcefulness were invoked to embed an entrepreneurial urban strategy. The book also observes how the very same tradition of resourcefulness was used by the opposition to challenge the urban policies. Contrary to the authorities' expectations, Euro 2012 triggered a discussion about the extent to which large business- and leisure-oriented urban strategy corresponds to local regime of value.
