Práce pojednávající o listech javorů třetihorního stáří podrobuje kritické revizi všechny dosavadní nálezy ze severních Čech. Podle výskytu rozlišuje tři paleogeograficky a ekologicky odlišné oblasti: oblast bažinatýchoblast sopečné vysočiny Českého středohoří a okrajovou oblast severočeské pánve. Severočeské nálezy jsou z předloženého souboru geologicky nejstarší.
Dear Miloš: Bohuslav Martinů´s letters to Miloš Šafránek
The monograph consists of a set of correspondence with Miloš Šafránek, a Czech diplomat, music journalist, Martinů's biographer, and a promoter of his work. The volume contains the diplomatic transcriptions of 168 letters, six postcard, five postal cards, one telegram, and one lettercard from the period of 1928-1959. The vast majority of the correspondence is unilateral, addressed to Šafránek; only two of the items were sent by Šafránek. The method of diplomatic transcription, chosen by the authors of the edition, respects the peculiarities of Martinů's linguistic expression. Comprehensive annotations provide historical context and illustrate the political circumstances of the most tumultuous years of the twentieth century, but they also comment on the genesis of compositions.
Beyond Decadence
Jan Opolsky has long been considered to be little more than an epigon of the Czech Decadence. By detailed analysis of his prose, this book aims to show that Opolsky is a master of sustained narrative irony and an accomplished writer in his own right. Introduction brings an overview of Czech Decadent/Symbolist literature and art in an European perspective. The first monograph evaluates archival sources, private correspondence with other literary figures and includes classified bibliography of Opolsky.
Anxiety, Angst, Anguish in Fin de Siècle Art and Literature
This volume examines various manifestations of anguish in art, literature, and philosophy. It demonstrates that the experience of anguish manifested itself in a spectacular way in the arts in the late 19th – early 20th centuries. It makes obvious the extraordinary tension between anguish and art. The works discussed here reflect the magnitude of anguish generated by historical events, scientific advancements (especially in psychology), and metaphysical inquiries of the time. Through the invention of new artistic languages, those works also illustrate the fecundity of anguish for artists.

Military Strategies of the New European Allies
This book analyses how and to what extent ex-communist states have adjusted their defence strategies since joining the EU and NATO, and how differences and similarities between their strategies can be explained. Between 1999 and 2013, four phases of enlargement took place when the European Union (EU) and NATO allowed 11 new former communist states to enter both organisations.
