NATIONAL PROGRAMMES ON NUTRITION
The Department of Community Medicine and Family Medicine at AIIMS Bhubaneswar have started a fellowship course in Public Health Nutrition in 2019. The need for such a course in the present time is timely, apt and in keeping with the need of the hour. The course proposes to give the students a broad-based view of public health nutrition and envisages to give them the requisite skills to have a career in this specialty and will serve as a value addition to those who already have a career in public health. I congratulate the Department of Community Medicine and Family Medicine of AIIMS Bhubaneswar for meticulously preparing the course content which will facilitate training and be a source of quick reference for the students not just during the training period but also later on in their career.

This module has been prepared keeping in mind the beliefs and customs of tribal population of Odisha. It has three section. The first section is Introduction to Childhood Malnutrition and a brief regarding targeting underweight and stunting. The second section deals specifically with severe acute malnutrition.
