Dem ›Siglo de Oro‹, dem Goldenen Zeitalter Spaniens, widmet sich Mariano Delgados Buch, das einen umfassenden Überblick über Politik, Wirtschaft und Religion gibt. Gleichzeitig betrachtet es die kulturelle Hochblüte der Zeit mit großen Namen wie Velázquez, El Greco, Calderón oder Cervantes. Doch was zeichnet diese Epoche aus? Von etwa 1550 - 1680 erlebt die europäische Hegemonialmacht Spanien den Höhepunkt ihrer Zeit als Kolonialmacht. Diese Phase ist nicht nur durch eine offensive katholische Reaktionspolitik gekennzeichnet, sondern auch durch die Unterdrückung politischer Freiheiten. Hochgespannte politische Ambitionen werden mit Hilfe der Inquisition brutal durchgesetzt. A History of Christianity in Asia, Africa, and Latin America, 1450-1990
In cooperation with Roland Spliesgart The map of world Christianity has changed dramatically in just the last century. Today the majority of Christians live in Africa, Asia, and Latin America, making Christianity a world religion as never before in history. Given that global reality, Klaus Koschorke, Frieder Ludwig, and Mariano Delgado have created the first comparative documentary history of Christianity for these regions covering the period 1450–1990. Taking the changing ecumenical conditions into account, this volume enlarges the horizon of classical church historiography. In contrast to the prevailing Western perspectives on the history of Christianity in Africa, Asia, and Latin America, voice is given here to the multitude of local initiatives, specific experiences, and varieties of Christianity in very diverse cultural contexts -- addressing such questions as the colonial conquest, slavery, and the demand for ecclesiastical independence.

Bartolomé de Las Casas
Ce livre présente le travail et la pensée de Bartolomé de Las Casas, figure majeure de l'histoire universelle, qui a combattu toute sa vie pour les peuples du Nouveau-Monde, découverts et dominés par les Espagnols. Las Casas a en effet défendu, notamment lors de la célèbre controverse de Valladolid, le droit des peuples amérindiens à vivre en liberté, à résister à la domination espagnole, à respecter et à préserver leurs propres cultures, leur religiosité, et à conserver aussi après la conversion les éléments compatibles avec le christianisme. La défense de ces droits ainsi que de l'unité et de l'égalité de la famille humaine fait de Bartolomé de Las Casas un «précurseur» à la fois du Concile Vatican II et du monde postcolonial et mondialisé de notre époque.

Miguel de Molinos gehört zu den großen spirituellen Autoren des Barocks. Sein Hauptwerk schöpft vor allem aus den mystischen Schriften Teresa von Ávilas, setzt aber mit der starken Befürwortung der Seelenruhe eigene Akzente. Mit kirchlicher Druckerlaubnis erschienen wurde es dennoch 1687 ebenso wie sein Autor als heterodox verurteilt. Die Ausgabe bietet eine vollständige neue Übersetzung von Michael Laube sowie eine Einführung und Anmerkungen von Mariano Delgado.
