Competitive Intelligence and Knowledge Management: A Study of Enhancing the Employees ́ Motivation to Sharing Their Knowledge
Companies which are active in Competitive Intelligence (CI) face the problem of accessing the employees ́ knowledge for specific inquiries. Most of the knowledge and of the intelligence already exists within the company – however, it is not available for the CI-department. This study finds a solution for the problem by taking a view on the inner organization of CI- and knowledge management. It creates a reference framework of strategic knowledge management called the “Knowledge House” and gives the employees a context they can orientate towards. The objective is to actively anchor the strategic cultivation of knowledge in the company which promotes knowledge sharing. Beyond this strategic approach, knowledge sharing from the employees ́ view is outlined. In addition, it is also outlined what preconditions – which go beyond the organizations ́ influence – have to be set to make the employees work in a knowledge sharing- promoting environment.
Principles of Maritime Power
Maritime powers dominate the planet, from the British empire of the 19th century, to the American post-World War II domination of global affairs. To a large degree their control of the globe is based on control of the seas. This book seeks to examine the strengths and weaknesses of maritime power, including specific chapters on mutiny, blockades, coalitions, piracy, expeditionary warfare, commerce raiding, and soft power operations, but with larger discussion of such sea power characteristics as sea control, sea denial, and the competition between land powers and sea powers. The conclusions will discuss how many other countries, including Russia during the Cold War and the PRC today, have or are seeking to use sea power to claim regional and then eventually global hegemony.

Nach einem Zusammenbruch wird die temperamentvolle Ricarda Overbrugg die Patientin des ausgesprochen charmanten Chefkardiologen Dr. Adrian Gräfenthal. Sie ändert ihr Leben rigoros und lässt sich von ihrem Arzt auch von der Implantation eines Ereignis-Rekorders überzeugen. Dieser soll ihre Herzaktivitäten überwachen. Die Atmosphäre zwischen Arzt und Patientin knistert zunehmend und Ricardas Leben nimmt langsam, aber sicher beruflich und privat wieder vernünftige Formen an. Bis aus heiterem Himmel unbekannte Daten in ihrer Patientenakte auftauchen. Darüber hinaus werden Manipulationen an ihrem Rekorder vorgenommen, die sie sich nicht erklären kann. Auch der Chefkardiologe scheint ratlos, gerät aber zunehmend enger ins Visier. Die Vorfälle werden immer mysteriöser und bedrohlicher. Ricarda ist mit den Nerven völlig am Ende. Sie misstraut nun jedem und isoliert sich, da ihr auch die Polizei nicht helfen kann. Dann stellt sie aber fest, dass die jüngeren Vorfälle wohl einem ausgeklügelten System folgen. Und als bei einer Überprüfung dann auch noch das Alibi des Chefarztes platzt, beschließt sie, der Sache auf eigene Faust auf den Grund zu gehen.
