Real Heroes: Ordinary People Extraordinary Service
These are stories of ordinary people who are doing extraordinary work for our society and our nation. An initiative started by CNN-IBN and Reliance Industries, they honour twenty-four real heroes every year. In its third edition, this initiative recognizes the real life heroes who never gave up against adversities and served the cause close to their hearts. The selfless acts of these 48 unsung heroes from across the nation in categories as diverse as women s welfare, social welfare, health & disability, youth, education & children and sports will inspire the nation and prove that with determination and self belief even an ordinary person can have a profound impact on our society. 1.Inspiring stories of ordinary people; 2. These narratives can make the readers empathise with the problems our society is trying to deal with; 3. Most importantly, these stories can make one realize that every little act of kindness counts.
Not the Slightest Chance
More than 10% of Hong Kong's defenders were killed in battle; a further 20% died in captivity. Those who survived seldom spoke of their experiences. Many died young. The little 'primary' material surviving – written in POW camps or years after the events – is contradictory and muddled. Yet with just 14,000 defending the Colony, it was possible to write from the individual's point of view rather than that of the Big Battalions so favoured by God (according to Napoleon) and most historians. The book assembles a phase-by-phase, day-by-day, hour-by-hour, and death-by-death account of the battle. It considers the individual actions that made up the fighting, as well as the strategies and plans and the many controversies that arose. Not the Slightest Chance will be of interest to military historians, Hong Kong residents and visitors, and those in the UK, Canada, and elsewhere whose family members fought, or were interned, in Hong Kong during the war years.
My Autobiography
The purpose of writing my autobiography is to share all the events, I have passed through my life, from childhood to the present stage when I am in the last phase of life. It has been my experience that each life stage provides different experiences depending upon the persons and reactions one gets to live with. In my opinion the childhood period, I assume it is then up to the age of 12 years, it is a memorable stage, which one bears life long, and one remains unattached to a period when the mind is receptive to everything, and a child of that age is still unbiased, neither he knows much about himself, nor he is calculative about the other and the surroundings us. Most of the time he or she works as per instincts imbibed in him by nature. That period of my life still enchants me to an extent that usually loves to cherish dreams.
