“The whole feel is that of a Mumblecore film. There seems to be a consistent voice throughout which makes the whole thing extremely readable but look again and there are many different registers (or ghosts of different registers) that ensure that this book will require a second read, a third read, a fourth read, if you want to 'get them', that's assuming the author actually wants anything to be got or not that the point might be that there is nothing to be got anymore.”HTML Giant reviewing Richard Brammer's previous book 'Public Dick Punk 83'Taking its title from a song by Jeffrey Lewis, Richard Brammer's third book contains all of his usual contemporary pop-cultural concerns (subcultural detritus, hipsterism, social-media technologies, half-remembered rave eras, Grunge, college-rock bands, hauntological scenes from quotidian everyday life) but changes tack slightly with a newer, often minimalist style that is slightly reminiscent of writers like Chelsey Minnis - something more restrained, obscure, untitled and yet still readable. The book comes complete with its own discography, an extremely 'unhelpful' index and a surprisingly lengthy appendix section.

"Bringing together Northern Soul and laboratory Cytology for the first time, Richard Brammer'sGirl at End is UK literary subculture at its best." Isabel Waidner, author of Gaudy Bauble Equal parts autobiography and soap-opera, Girl at End is a work of hypervigilant minor literature featuring only hypomanic minor characters. Girl at End is quality TV, gynaecological cytolology and Northern Soul at 45rpm, at 78rpm, at 7200rpm. It's a dentist's drill and a leaf found pressed inside a book about Javascript.
