A Framework for the Evaluation of Texture Features with Application to Diagnostic Ultrasound Images
It is unnecessary to make invalid assumptions about the types of textures which the features can effectively detect. A new framework is presented to evaluate a given set of texture features, based on the set of textures they are to characterize. The textures are sampled from 'real' images which are to be segmented, rather than the commonly used Brodatz textures. Using robust statistics, the number of outliers produced by each feature is used to determine its effectiveness in characterizing the set of textures. This framework is applied to a set of textures sampled from a sequence of diagnostic ultrasound images of an ovary in vitro. Thirty two spatial and frequency domain texture features are evaluated."
Multiresolution Texture Segmentation with Application to Diagnostic Ultrasound Images
A rigorous experimental procedure is also proposed to demonstrate the advantages of the proposed MTS approach on: (1) the accuracy of the segmentation, (2) the efficiency of the algorithm and (3) the use of varying features at different resolution. Semi-real images, created by sampling a series of diagnostic ultrasound images of an ovary in vitro, were tested to produce statistical measures on the performance of the approach. The ultrasound images themselves were then segmented to determine if the approach can achieve accurate results for the intended ultrasound application. Experimental results suggest that the MTS approach converges faster than and produces better segmentation results as compared with the single level approach."

Ultrasonographic Features of the Testis, Epididymis and Accessory Glands of Bulls in Relationship to Semen Quality and Histology
This report describes research conducted to characterize the normal & abnormal ultrasonographic features of the bull reproductive tract, to determine the prevalence of reproductive tract lesions, to correlate ultrasound information with semen quality traits, and to use ultrasonography in conjunction with physical findings & semen information to evaluate bull fertility.
