Times are changing, and with them, the norms and notions of correctness. Despite a wide-spread belief that the Bible, as a “sacred original,” only allows one translation, if any, new translations are constantly produced and published for all kinds of audiences and purposes. The various paradigms marked by the theological, political, and historical correctness of the time, group, and identity and bound to certain ethics and axiomatic norms are reflected in almost every current translation project. Like its predecessor, the current volume brings together scholars working at the intersection of Translation Studies, Bible Studies, and Theology, all of which share a special point of interest concerning the status of the Scriptures as texts fundamentally based on the act of translation and its recurring character. It aims to breathe new life into Bible translation studies, unlock new perspectives and vistas of the field, and present a bigger picture of how Bible [re]translation works in society today.
Formerly known by its subtitle “Internationale Zeitschriftenschau für Bibelwissenschaft und Grenzgebiete”, the International Review of Biblical Studies has served the scholarly community ever since its inception in the early 1950’s. Each annual volume includes approximately 2,000 abstracts and summaries of articles and books that deal with the Bible and related literature, including the Dead Sea Scrolls, Pseudepigrapha, Non-canonical gospels, and ancient Near Eastern writings. The abstracts – which may be in English, German, or French - are arranged thematically under headings such as e.g. “Genesis”, “Matthew”, “Greek language”, “text and textual criticism”, “exegetical methods and approaches”, “biblical theology”, “social and religious institutions”, “biblical personalities”, “history of Israel and early Judaism”, and so on. The articles and books that are abstracted and reviewed are collected annually by an international team of collaborators from over 300 of the most important periodicals and book series in the fields covered.

The present volume presents important and useful information to students doing exegetical research in Sacred Scripture. The Guide is arranged in six chapters, which endeavor to respond to students' questions regarding: the primary sources of the biblical text (chapter one), a survey of available biblical bibliographical research tools (chapter two), a panorama of reference works, such as concordances, synopses, lexicons, grammars, etc., and an essential bibliography on exegetical methods (chapter three). Particular attention is given to the literary types occurring in the Bible (chapter four), followed by some suggestions in organizing the writing of an exegetical study (chapter five). Finally, some practical rules are provided on how to make accurate bibliographic citations in footnotes and in a bibliography (chapter six).
«La Chiesa non può essere se stessa senza la donna e il suo ruolo. La donna per la Chiesa è imprescindibile». Papa Francesco con queste parole fotografa bene la realtà: sono le donne che tengono in piedi la Chiesa, attraverso le più varie forme di partecipazione e impegno. Un esempio? Quindici donne attive nella Chiesa qui si confessano, qualche volta con critiche anche sferzanti nei confronti di una certa mentalità clericale, in altri casi offrendo idee utili al cambiamento, sempre con l'intento di valorizzare il meglio di una Chiesa alla cui verità e bellezza tutte tengono senza infingimenti né tornaconti.
