Immortal Hand

Dominated by the all-consuming rage of one man, impelled by his insatiable lust for revenge, the Wiccan Kingdom is poised to seize control of all the lands in Creation. The coven witches were once the benefactors of society. Now, in the service of their lord, the supreme warlock, they have turned their backs on that past. Beguiled by a web of forgery, slander, and distortion, even they don't know their leader's inner most thoughts, his grim plans for all of humanity. The Legend of the Shivered Soul is a sweeping tale of good versus evil, where control over the hearts and minds of the warriors, monsters, and enchanters who cross swords and trade spells is as hotly contested as the lands they fight across. Immortal Hand, the first book in the Shivered Soul series, introduces the bold and villainous Ertz Mintz, sometime pirate, and the stout-hearted squire, Barcello LaVita. Pitted together in the fight to save the world, the unlikely pair must first survive each other.

Immortal Heart

Divided by the hand of fate, Ertz Mintz and Barcello LaVita find themselves on separate paths. Pledged to rescue Baron Bal Pouron's hostage son, Ertz returns to the north. His pilgrimage takes him through blowing snows and biting cold to Crestone City, home to the Legion, a mercenary brotherhood. With their support, if it can be had, he will make for the ghost city of Djarde. As his plans fall apart, Ertz finds himself alone facing death and destruction. To avoid being lost forever, he must find a way to nurture the dying embers of his own humanity. Barcello meanwhile, arrives in the Sunndr city-state of Altimacasa, where the reception is icy-cold. His hope is to coax the Sunndr from their isolation and to enlist them in the battle against the Wiccans. Creigshtane has not been standing idly by however and like his brother Ertz, Barcello must fight like he never has before if he is to survive. Little goes to plan for the pair, and even they cannot avoid tragedy forever. All is not doom and gloom though - romance blossoms and its entanglements make life all the sweeter and death the more poignant.

Gray Matters is a thorough examination of the main topics in recent philosophy of mind. It aims at surveying a broad range of issues, not all of which can be subsumed under one position or one philosopher's theory. In this way, the authors avoid neglecting interesting issues out of allegiance to a given theory of mind.

The Primitivist Theory of Truth

The Primitivist Theory of Truth

Jamin Asay's book offers a fresh and daring perspective on the age-old question 'What is truth?', with a comprehensive articulation and defence of primitivism, the view that truth is a fundamental and indefinable concept. Often associated with Frege and the early Russell and Moore, primitivism has been largely absent from the larger conversation surrounding the nature of truth. Asay defends primitivism by drawing on a range of arguments from metaphysics, philosophy of language and philosophy of logic, and navigates between correspondence theory and deflationism by reviving analytic philosophy's first theory of truth. In its exploration of the role that truth plays in our cognitive and linguistic lives, The Primitivist Theory of Truth offers an account of not just the nature of truth, but the foundational role that truth plays in our conceptual scheme. It will be valuable for students and scholars of philosophy of language and of metaphysics.
