This book considers the practical management of sudden death and offers first-hand reflections of how emergency physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals cope. Sudden death is one of the most difficult aspects of emergency care, and the traumatic nature of some deaths can be devastating for the family and the emergency team. Mental Health: Intervention Skills for the Emergency Services

This book addresses the practical management of mental health scenarios in the emergency setting and offers first-hand reflections on how emergency nurses, practitioners and allied mental health professionals handle these situations. Responding to mental health needs in emergency situations can be profoundly complex. Frequently emergency nurses and other personnel express their feelings of powerlessness, as they do not know what to say or do in order to achieve the best outcome, and have concerns that their intervention may make the situation worse for those in their care. How a practitioner confronts the mental health encounter and takes the essential steps in managing the event can have a ...

Two women who live a century apart. Two stories that interweave to form a rich tapestry of intriguing characters, evocative places, and compelling events. Escaping from a disintegrating relationship in the city, writer Kit Spencer stumbles upon the quintessential Norman Rockwell village in the Ottawa Valley, where she buys an old stone mansion, "Moon Hall". But her illusions about idyllic country life are soon challenged by reality. Beneath the seemingly calm backwater run powerful currents, dramas already close to breaking the surface. In her rural community of farmers, hippies, and yuppies, Kit unwittingly precipitates events that will change them all forever. Violet McAllister, the ghost ...

When Gregg N. Jennings of Columbus, Georgia, U.S.A. retired in 1981 he investigated his father's ancestry. After visits to Ireland, Australia and New Zealand he collected contributions from the extended Jennings families. He co-ordinated the development of a compilation which was produced in 1985 from type-written scripts. In 2000 I produced a replication of this book in computer format which contains substantially the same information. Inaccuracies in the original version still remain. It does now contain a useful Index of Names and Places.
