Sandra McMahon, Director of Tamworth Regional Gallery, has curated this survey show for the first time bringing together key works from a career that spans more than 20 years. This show opened at The Tamworth Regional Gallery 16 June, 2012 and concludes at the S.H. Ervin Gallery, Sydney in January 2013. Walcha-based artist Angus Nivison draws his inspiration from the poetic vision, the big sky, the fierce weather, his grazier heritage, the trees, mountains and waterfalls. A farmer before painting fulltime, he was born here like his father before him. He lives and breathes this landscape and it finds its way irrevocably, transmuted and transformed, abstracted and acknowledged, into his work.

Home Sweet Home

Art can illuminate and enrich our lives in many ways. It can excite, provoke, intrigue, and inspire. Home Sweet Home demonstrates some of the possibilities of discovering art by transforming the physical space of a home and inspiring the imagination on a daily basis. While the title relates to the domestic nature of the Peter Fay's collection, it also takes us into the psychological and expressive realms of what "art" and "home" might mean. What distinguishes Fay as a collector is his inveterate risk-taking, his particular vision for opening up dialogues between well-known artists and others who are at the beginning of their adventures in art-making.

In American Waters

  • Categories: Art

"For over 200 years, artists have been inspired to capture the beauty, violence, poetry and transformative power of the sea in American life. Oceans play a key role in American society no matter where we live, and the sea continues to inspire painters today to capture its mystery and power. In American Waters reveals that marine painting is so much more than ship portraits. In this exhibition, visitors will also discover the sea as an expansive way to reflect on American culture and environment, learn how coastal and maritime symbols moved inland across the United States, and question what it means to be "in American waters." Be transported across time and water on the wave of a diverse range of modern and historical artists including Georgia O'Keeffe, Amy Sherald, Kay WalkingStick, Norman Rockwell, Hale Woodruff, Paul Cadmus, Thomas Hart Benton, Jacob Lawrence, Valerie Hegarty, Stuart Davis, and many others"--Publisher's website
