System on Chip (SOC) Architecture

This book deals with a practical approach to defining a system on a chip (SoC) architecture. It is written by practicing industry experts with cumulative five decades of hands-on experience. The book discusses how the system-level design challenges are addressed at the architecture stage and clearly defines different SoC subsystems and components. The book explains the practical method of determining system subsystems in system architectures. System on Chip (SOC) Architecture: A Practical Approach provides readers with a complete understanding of methods for defining SoC architecture.

SoC Physical Design

SoC Physical Design is a comprehensive practical guide for VLSI designers that thoroughly examines and explains the practical physical design flow of system on chip (SoC). The book covers the rationale behind making design decisions on power, performance, and area (PPA) goals for SoC and explains the required design environment algorithms, design flows, constraints, handoff procedures, and design infrastructure requirements in achieving them. The book reveals challenges likely to be faced at each design process and ways to address them in practical design environments. Advanced topics on 3D ICs, EDA trends, and SOC trends are discussed in later chapters. Coverage also includes advanced physical design techniques followed for deep submicron SOC designs. The book provides aspiring VLSI designers, practicing design engineers, and electrical engineering students with a solid background on the complex physical design requirements of SoCs which are required to contribute effectively in design roles.

A Practical Approach to VLSI System on Chip (SoC) Design

Now in a thoroughly revised second edition, this practical practitioner guide provides a comprehensive overview of the SoC design process. It explains end-to-end system on chip (SoC) design processes and includes updated coverage of design methodology, the design environment, EDA tool flow, design decisions, choice of design intellectual property (IP) cores, sign-off procedures, and design infrastructure requirements. The second edition provides new information on SOC trends and updated design cases. Coverage also includes critical advanced guidance on the latest UPF-based low power design flow, challenges of deep submicron technologies, and 3D design fundamentals, which will prepare the readers for the challenges of working at the nanotechnology scale. A Practical Approach to VLSI System on Chip (SoC) Design: A Comprehensive Guide, Second Edition provides engineers who aspire to become VLSI designers with all the necessary information and details of EDA tools. It will be a valuable professional reference for those working on VLSI design and verification portfolios in complex SoC designs

Precision Instrumentation Amplifiers and Read-Out Integrated Circuits

This book presents innovative solutions in the design of precision instrumentation amplifier and read-out ICs, which can be used to boost millivolt-level signals transmitted by modern sensors, to levels compatible with the input ranges of typical Analog-to-Digital Converters (ADCs). The discussion includes the theory, design and realization of interface electronics for bridge transducers and thermocouples. It describes the use of power efficient techniques to mitigate low frequency errors, resulting in interface electronics with high accuracy, low noise and low drift. Since this book is mainly about techniques for eliminating low frequency errors, it describes the nature of these errors and the associated dynamic offset cancellation techniques used to mitigate them.

The HP Way

In the fall of 1930, David Packard left his hometown of Pueblo, Colorado, to enroll at Stanford University, where he befriended another freshman, Bill Hewlett. After graduation, Hewlett and Packard decided to throw their lots in together. They tossed a coin to decide whose name should go first on the notice of incorporation, then cast about in search of products to sell. Today, the one-car garage in Palo Alto that housed their first workshop is a California historic landmark: the birthplace of Silicon Valley. And Hewlett-Packard has produced thousands of innovative products for millions of customers throughout the world. Their little company employs 98,400 people and boasts constantly increa...

VLSI Physical Design: From Graph Partitioning to Timing Closure

Design and optimization of integrated circuits are essential to the creation of new semiconductor chips, and physical optimizations are becoming more prominent as a result of semiconductor scaling. Modern chip design has become so complex that it is largely performed by specialized software, which is frequently updated to address advances in semiconductor technologies and increased problem complexities. A user of such software needs a high-level understanding of the underlying mathematical models and algorithms. On the other hand, a developer of such software must have a keen understanding of computer science aspects, including algorithmic performance bottlenecks and how various algorithms operate and interact. "VLSI Physical Design: From Graph Partitioning to Timing Closure" introduces and compares algorithms that are used during the physical design phase of integrated-circuit design, wherein a geometric chip layout is produced starting from an abstract circuit design. The emphasis is on essential and fundamental techniques, ranging from hypergraph partitioning and circuit placement to timing closure.

All new ventures start as social networks around a value theme. From this social network, additional functionality in the form of custom mods emerge along with corresponding business models. All digital ventures should thus begin as php social networking platforms acquiring users and then after seed funding begin the work on custom mods and monetizing via business models. The practice of entrepreneurship involves utilizing a diversification strategy to bring down entrepreneurial risk coupled with a white label strategy to cut down on startup costs and time to prototype. From there we have the purchase of an opt-in database including emails and the consequent upload to the white label platform. We then have user conversions generated from email campaigns via SMTP. Next, when there is significant enough traction in the form of user conversions we have funding rounds beginning with pre-seed, followed by seed, Series A, Series B, Series C, Series D+. Finally, we have the cash out by the entrepreneur in the form of an exit. The entrepreneur is then free to diversify their cash and reinvest it into his various startups to then repeat the process.
