Its development, particularly impressive in recent years, is proportional to the increase in the interest in this fascinating and important field, both in the West and East of Europe. This volume contains selected Proceedings of the 5th Annual Meeting of the European Society for Chronobiology, held in Cracow in 1989. It was the first meeting of European chronobiologists in a communist ruled country.
