Expanding the Lexicon
The creation of new lexical units and patterns has been studied in different research frameworks, focusing on either system-internal or system-external aspects, from which no comprehensive view has emerged. The volume aims to fill this gap by studying dynamic processes in the lexicon – understood in a wide sense as not being necessarily limited to the word level – by bringing together approaches directed to morphological productivity as well as approaches analyzing general types of lexical innovation and the role of discourse-related factors. The papers deal with ongoing changes as well as with historical processes of change in different languages and reflect on patterns and specific subtypes of lexical innovation as well as on their external conditions and the speakers’ motivations for innovating. Moreover, the diffusion and conventionalization of innovations will be addressed. In this way, the volume contributes to understanding the complex interplay of structural, cognitive and functional factors in the lexicon as a highly dynamic domain.
Productive Patterns in Phraseology and Construction Grammar
Adopting a corpus-based methodology, this volume analyses phraseological patterns in nine European languages from a monolingual, bilingual and multilingual point of view, following a mostly Construction Grammar approach. Mental Health in English Language Education
Mental health has become a growing concern in today's society, with schools emerging as focal points for addressing this topic. The present volume takes this as a starting point to explore the relevance of curricula and competencies, texts and materials, (digital) culture and communication, and teacher education in the context of mental health and English language education. This, for instance, includes insights into interrelated topics such as gender, climate change, stress, and conspiracy theories. A variety of texts including multimodal novels, video games, and songs provides practical impulses for integrating mental health related topics into English lessons. Diskursmorphologie
Diskurslinguistik und Morphologie hatten in der bisherigen Forschung wenige Berührungspunkte. Die traditionelle Diskurslinguistik betrachtet morphologische Fragestellungen häufig nur am Rande und auch die Wortbildung nimmt trotz Hinwendung zu gebrauchsbasierten Aspekten in den letzten Jahren den Text nach wie vor als oberste kommunikative Bezugsgröße an. Dieser Band setzt sich zum Ziel, die Schnittstellen beider Disziplinen zu beleuchten, indem er systematisch die Relevanz der Morphologie für diskurslinguistische Themen einerseits sowie des Diskurses für morphologische Untersuchungen andererseits ins Zentrum rückt. Er behandelt dabei grundlegende theoretische Fundierungen ebenso wie empirisch-methodische Herausforderungen sowie einzelne Fallanalysen. Dabei knüpft ein Großteil der Beiträge an den Foucault'schen Diskursbegriff an, einige jedoch auch an den konversationsanalytisch orientierten Diskursbegriff. Der Band macht deutlich, dass sowohl die Diskurslinguistik als auch die Morphologie von dieser Annäherung profitieren, und möchte zu weiteren Untersuchungen zu dieser Schnittstelle anregen.

The book develops a Theory of the Figurative Lexicon. Units of the figurative lexicon (conventional figurative units, CFUs for short) differ from all other elements of the language in two points: Firstly, they are conventionalized.
