Reminiscences of June

This biography has thirty-one chapters, over eighty thousand words, and over two hundred illustrations, photos, or diagrams. Billy Graham, the world-famous evangelist, once described his wife, Ruth Bell Graham, as the world's greatest Christian. Stan Berg, the author of June's biography, is convinced that June is the greatest Christian that he has ever known. June portrays the Christian love, the cornerstone of the Christian religion, always smiling, friendly, and dedicated to the Lutheran Church. One entire chapter of this book (the longest) is so dedicated in chapter 8, "June and the Lutheran Church." It was June's influence that changed the author Stan from a declared agnostic to a devote...

MARSHA'S POETIC EXPRESSIONS of JUNE'S and STAN'S LOVE and LIFE and ALZHEIMER'S

Stan first met Marsha several years ago when Stan published a special tribute to the caregivers around the world. Marsha read Stan's tribute and also his reference to caregiving being God's hands here on earth. Marsha, who lives in Texas and was once a schoolteacher there and a lady with great poetic abilities, had a father who came down with Alzheimer's. Stan tried to assist Marsha with advice in the care of her father. Marsha, early on in their friendship, wrote two poems relating to caregiving and her father's Alzheimer's: "In Heaven, He Remembers" and "His Hands." Being the prolific and excellent poet/poem writer that Marsha was, Stan set up a page on June's Alzheimer's website to collect and publish Marsha's many poems. It is these many poems that now make up this book.

This college course, an Introduction to Philosophy, is not a history of the great philosophers and their systems. It is not a survey of the traditional divisions of philosophy--metaphysics, epistemology, phenomenology, ethics, politics, and aesthetics. It is, however, a process of doing philosophy that takes up some of the basic questions and problems that we will all encounter in life--sooner or later. It is also an application of the Socratic method of teaching and learning that develop habits of independent, critical, and reflective thinking. It is a series of Socratic seminars on the Great Books by the greatest faculty of the Western world and a process that illustrates how to pass from the world of work, need, and empirical science into "the world of all things" (beings) that Being provides

How and when did forensic science originate in the UK? This question demands our attention because our understanding of present-day forensic science is vastly enriched through gaining an appreciation of what went before. A History of Forensic Science is the first book to consider the wide spectrum of influences which went into creating the discipline in Britain in the first part of the twentieth century. This book offers a history of the development of forensic sciences, centred on the UK, but with consideration of continental and colonial influences, from around 1880 to approximately 1940. This period was central to the formation of a separate discipline of forensic science with a distinct ...

The Critical Reception of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle

Examines both academic and popular assessments of Conan Doyle's work, giving pride of place to the Holmes stories and their adaptations, and also attending to the wide range of his published work. Twenty-first-century readers, television viewers, and moviegoers know Arthur Conan Doyle as the creator of Sherlock Holmes, the world's most recognizable fictional detective. Holmes's enduring popularity has kept Conan Doyle in the public eye. However, Holmes has taken on a life of his own, generating a steady stream of critical commentary, while Conan Doyle's other works are slighted or ignored. Yet the Holmes stories make up only a small portion of Conan Doyle's published work, which includes mai...
