Octreotide
Somataostatin is a substance that inhibits release of growth hormone, but which also has release-inhibiting properties in other hormones. A somatostatin analogue, octreotide, has been used in the 1990s to treat a number of disorders such as acromegaly, TSH-secreting pituitary adenomas, carcinoid tumours, gastrointestinal disorders and diabetes.
