Col. T.L. Kennedy began his political career in Peel County before serving in the 1st World War rising to the rank of Brigadier General. He was elected to the Provincial Legislature in 1919 and was appointed Minister of Agriculture in 1930 until 1934 and again from 1943 to 1953. During the latter period he was also Prime Minister for 18 months, 1948-49.
