The institute was among the earliest established by the Kaiser Wilhelm Society, and its inauguration was one of the first steps in the development of Berlin-Dahlem into a center for scientific research. Multilingual Corpora and Multilingual Corpus Analysis
This volume deals with different aspects of the creation and use of multilingual corpora. The term 'multilingual corpus' is understood in a comprehensive sense, meaning any systematic collection of empirical language data enabling linguists to carry out analyses of multilingual individuals, multilingual societies or multilingual communication. The individual contributions are thus concerned with a variety of spoken and written corpora ranging from learner and attrition corpora, language contact corpora and interpreting corpora to comparable and parallel corpora. The overarching aim of the volume is first to take stock of the variety of existing multilingual corpora, documenting possible corpus designs and uses, second to discuss methodological and technological challenges in the creation and analysis of multilingual corpora, and third to provide examples of linguistic analyses that were carried out on the basis of multilingual corpora.

Zeitschrift für Kulturmanagement: Kunst, Politik, Wirtschaft und Gesellschaft
Die jährlich in zwei Heften erscheinende, referierte »Zeitschrift für Kulturmanagement« initiiert und fördert eine wissenschaftliche Auseinandersetzung mit Kulturmanagement im Hinblick auf eine methodologische und theoretische Fundierung des Faches. Das international orientierte Periodikum nimmt nicht nur ökonomische Fragestellungen, sondern ebenso sehr die historischen, politischen, sozialen und wirtschaftlichen Bedingungen und Verflechtungen im Bereich Kultur in den Blick. Explizit sind daher auch Fachvertreterinnen und -vertreter akademischer Nachbardisziplinen wie der Kultursoziologie und -politologie, der Kunst-, Musik- und Theaterwissenschaft, der Kunst- und Kulturpädagogik, der Wirtschaftswissenschaft etc. angesprochen, mit ihren Beiträgen den Kulturmanagementdiskurs kritisch zu bereichern. Das Heft enthält theoretische und empirische wissenschaftliche Beiträge, Essays und Fallstudien zu System und Struktur der Darstellenden Künste sowie zu den Institutionen und Akteuren. Dabei werden aktuelle Entwicklungen und Herausforderungen in den Blick genommen, aber auch historische Voraussetzungen rekonstruiert.
Musik im Alter
Dem stark wachsenden Anteil der älteren Bevölkerung entsprechend nimmt auch das Interesse an musikalischen Aktivitäten im Alter zu. Musikalische Kompetenzen, Interessen und Lernfähigkeiten im Alter sind bislang jedoch kaum erforscht. Der Band skizziert die Rahmenbedingungen musikalischer Aktivitäten wie Singen, Instrumentalspiel und Musikhören aus entwicklungspsychologischen, soziologischen und medizinisch-gesundheitlichen Perspektiven. Neben den Bereichen des professionellen Musizierens und des Laienmusizierens wird auch der Einsatz von Musik in Einrichtungen der Altenpflege und in der Musiktherapie anhand von Beispielen beleuchtet. Damit verbunden sind neue Aufgabenfelder in der Musikpädagogik und in der Ausbildung an den Hochschulen, die in weiteren Beiträgen dargestellt werden.
