Robotic spine surgery is one of the fastest growing segments of the spine surgery market. Surgeons specialising in spine surgery are highly motivated to learn and improve their understanding of the indications, application, and future clinical scope of using new technological platforms. Spinal surgeons face time pressures but are hungry for new ways to effectively treat patients. This book presents information in the case study format. By using examples of surgical cases of an advanced nature (e.g. spinal deformity, minimally invasive surgery, combinatorial technology using the robot) this will differ from other texts. Each case study is written by a well-respected expert in the field and repr...
* advanced robotic spine surgery cases from leading experts provide unique insights * includes top tips and advice on how to avoid common pitfalls * presents insights into the use of cutting edge technology
The perioperative care of individuals with neurologic compromise is critically important, yet it is only one dimension of the rich relationship between anaesthesiology and the neurosciences. The mechanism of everyday therapeutic interventions such as anaesthesia and analgesia is exciting neuroscience in its own right. At the new frontier of outcomes studies lies the question of how the perioperative period might impact the brain. For example, questions related to anaesthetic neurotoxicity, delirium, and cognitive dysfunction pose critical challenges for the field. The Oxford Textbook in Neuroscience and Anaesthesiology addresses the exciting field of neuroanaesthesiology in a new and stimula...

A study of neuroprosthetics. It is broadly divided into three sections which address: neuroanatomy and neurophysiology, biomaterials and biocompatibility, stimulation and recording techniques; clinical applications of neuroprosthetics; and future developments.
Historical novel written by Abdullah Qodiriy in 1926 as a means to reform Central Asian society. Set in 1845, 20 years before the Russian conquest of Tashkent, the story is in the classical Turco-Persian vein with a strong reform message.
The 16th and 17th century raids of the Tatars of the Northern Black Sea take an important place in the historical consciousness of the Eastern European societies that were affected by it. With a focus on the destructions and their consequences much of the previous research found only insufficient and often biased explanations for the raids. The question what social function the raids had for the Crimean Khanate and the Tatar communities of the Ottoman Empire was barely addressed. This study tackles that gap of research. It casts light on the diplomatic, administrative, and economic practices that helped perpetuate cross-border violence. Special attention is given to the embedding of the raids into wider political networks stretching i.a. from Bağçasaray to Isfahan and Iași to Istanbul. Last but not least it scrutinizes the importance of collectively performed violence and the polarization of Crimean Tatar elites by fear of violence as factors influencing the raids. The book is an important contribution to the understanding of an European historical landscape that earned a lot of attention in the last years but remains little studied.
