Mit Gesine Cresspahl, der Hauptfigur der Erzählung, sucht Miriam N. Reinhard in Geschichte und Geschichten nach Spuren in diesen Zwischenräumen. Sinn, so die Prämisse der Studie, wird nur in der Hybridität von Übersetzungen lesbar. Bildung kann nur da ein Ereignis dieses Sinns sein, wo sie sich durch die Möglichkeiten des Anderen begründet – und damit Nicht-Wissen und nicht Wissenschaft als ihre Aufgabe begreift.
